SPLAWN PRO MOD 2005

Question to Dave ,can you mod this amp model with your Brown Eye&Hairy BE? Its an 100watt amp with Valve Art KT-88 power tubes. It has the 3 channel footswitch for changing from clean to OD1 to OD2 and an boost option. I fell this amp would be ideal for an makeover. I feel the amp is just too fizzy sounding and would just like an good crunch sound, Im looking for Led Zep sounds of the Madison Square Gardens. Could it be accomplished? Im sure Dave can do it!! :thumbsup:
 
Too Fizzy? Really?? Something must be wrong, otherwise you are playing it below 9:00 on the volume. :confused:
 
Well what I mean is that the sound is too loose, Im playing through an avatar vintage 2x12 with reissue celestion greenbacks at 8 ohms. Probably would sound much better through an 4x12 I just want to tighten up the amps sound, and Ive heard the clips from his Naked model and thats what Im shooting for with getting his Brown Eye and Hairy BE. I just felt this amp would be ideal for hie mods, since its set up with an clean volume control and an Solo control, along with having an switching circuit already installed with the footswitch.
 
Also Im just trying to get Daves take on this, since I originaly was going to send him an Marshall 1987xl 50 watt 2002 with effects loop to get modded with the BE and HBE, but I figured the Splawn would be much better more similar to his Naked amp. Then he let me know how backed up he is with other amps I would send the Splawn to him instead, so I might be waiting for 5 months.
 
5 months....ouch! I understand though. In demand. I talked to him about modding my Splawn's loop, which he said was "no problem," but I need to get another backup amp before I can even send it down there.
 
I say put some EL34's into your Pro Mod, bias it up, and you should be able to get some killer tones out of it!

Not to say Dave couldn't work his magic on it, but I've never heard a bad sounding Quickrod, which is what your amp would be with a tube and bias change.
 
Thanks for that idea, since Im running Valve Arts KT-88, but I liked what I heard from listening to clips from the Naked with the Brown Eye and HBE, the sound seems more like what I want to hear out of my Pro Mod. I figured my amp would be an great platform for these mods to get that sound.

I would first try spending the small amount on new EL34's, and have the amp re-biased. Try the amp, then decide if you want to kill the Pro Mod!
 
Yeah man, I don't know what your problem is.. I love the KT88s in the Splawn. Also the Naked is not the same as the Brown Eye and HBE..
