I have one of these I recently got from Scott, loaded with 6550 like Rich Wards - be prepared for crushing hot rodded tones. Congrats

Damn! Should I have gone with 6550's?? What is the difference b/t EL34's?

Probably not much to my old ears
Supposedly the 6550 have a woodier attack and are less sterile than the KT88. So far I like them, other than i red plated one within a few minutes of powering it on the 2nd time I ever turned it on. Scott sent me a new one and it's all good. I was running it with 2 tubes for a bit and it was still cool. Here's a phone clip at low volumes - kids were in bed, didn't wanna shake the house down.

Cool! Sounds tasty! What settings was that and what speakers??

Presence at 9:00
Bass at 2:00
Mid at 10:00
Treble at 2:00
Gain at noon
volume was pretty low

Cab is a Bogner front loaded Uberkab loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's & Scumback J75 in the X-Pattern

not sure which gear I was in as I'm not sure what the footswitch does
I think it changes between gear 1&2 or gear 2&3, but can't remember.

What are your overall impressions of the amp? Does the eq have a good range and can it do a good variety of tonesv Too loud? Does loop volume work well? How does it compare to those other cool amps you have??

I don't use the loop :D
If I do it's for low volume playing but the master vol works well enough to not need it. I had a Friedman SS100 and this is pretty close to my ears - with more gain. The eq is pretty useable, the amp is somewhat bright to my ears so I dial the presence back. I need to crank it up and see as I've not pushed it too hard. I put a Ruby HG5+ preamp tube in V1 to cut a little sizzle from the amp, one thing is it's pretty low noise for a 100w high gainer.

You'll dig it for sure. Use a greenie variant speaker of some type and I'm sure you'll be giggling like a school girl.

Cool! I was worried about the bright factor. My BFG modded Eggie Seminar head is a JCM800 circuit and it slays, but can be bright. I run the treble at 0/off and use the presence for cut. Sounds great that way.

For speakers I was planning to use a Creamback H75 and Hellatone 60L mix. Or maybe I'll get another speaker to mix with CB H75 if I don't like the Hellatone (V30). I also have a K100, Scumback BBH75 and H55.

Thx!!
