Hey Quick Rod players out there,

i would like to join the QuickRod camp soon, I could pick up a 2011 model (it has already the 4button footswitch and the Loop Volume) or there is another 2013 B+ model.
Now i`m wondering which revision is this 2011 amp and are the later 2013 models somehow "better" ? I read that the voicing and transformer were changed
Which revisions do you know of and what was changed in the voicing during the last couple years?
Which model shall i go for? 2011 or 2013?

2012 was the most recent change. 2011 probably has Heyboer transformer,2012 should have Classic Tone transformer. 2012 has more gain. I would go for the 2013. I had a 2007, sounded great but was much stiffer and had less gain and less saturation than the 2012 model I now have.

Thanks, the 2011 model i could pick up is cheaper as the 2013 (which has the B+ power supply).
Is the revision with the Classic Tone transformer considered to be an evolution and therefore improved and better? Or just another flavor? The 2007 you had is way old, you cant compare it to the 2011.

To Scott it seems to be an improvement. When I've talked to him about it... the Classic Tone transformer is what he had been wanting to use all along. I have a Street Rod with Hayboer Transformers and my new Quickrod has the Classic Tones.

Slightly different flavor. The new amp is definitely a little squishier and easier to play. Makes it a lot of fun.
However, I still also love my Street Rod.

The vid I posted earlier is a 2013 Low B+ on Gear 2, OD2 with the gain at Noon. No boost at all. Straigh Splawn.

The B+ is the best revision so far. Splawn was coming out with a new QR amp that had an interchangeable standard and B+ option on the amp. That was back in November and nothing about it since.

Now that would be perfect. I actually like the original layout. Nice and tight.
The B+ is amazing as well, but I have been wanting a QR for what 7 years now.

If he put that amp out with both options in one.. forgetaboutit

I've got a 2014 B+ Pro Stock and love it. I never use Gear 3. Amp has PLENTY of gain and saturation. More organic than my EVH 5153 50w, which we A/B'd a two weekends ago and the 5153 is a great amp at a great price, but the Splawn is worth the extra coin, in my band and I's opinion.

I find that the amp is still a bit picky with speakers and I'm looking for a way to tame it a bit; tried at 5751 last weekend, but didn't like it's effect initially, so went' back to all AX7's. You definitely hear the nuances and characteristics of the pickups and guitars. I do think it can get somewhat inarticulate if you go overboard, but that depends on speakers, tubes, and how you EQ. It's response to changes of all three of those things, which is the sign of a well designed amp.

Just my opinion.

I have the Creamback 65's in my Splawn cab and they are GLORIOUS!

I'm going to try a V30/Creamback M65 in my diagonal 2x12. I currently have a V30 (lower speaker)/Creamback H75 (upper speaker); this combo CUTS, but I think can get fizzy at higher gain. The Creamback 65's are warmer from all the clips I've heard, and I see guys putting V30/Greenback's in their cabs. The Creambacks have a bit less sizzle than the Greenbacks in clips I've heard, so we'll see how the V30/M65 combo works.

The small blocks sound good and also Eminence Governors sound real good and give you a little more top end than the sb's. I have 2 SB in my 2x12 and a mix of SB and governors in a 4x12.
