So the new options for the Quickrod look pretty cool. The B+ thing for the variac feel is not new so I would imagine some folks on here have experience with that, but what about the new/old switch and the Mid switch?
It would be nice to hear these things in action or at the very least get some user takes on how much of an impact these options have on tone shaping. I can't really tell if these are really out there or if it is all so new they haven't been delivered yet.

Anyone?

There is a vid of the B+ option doing some Van Halen stuff. Sounds really good, but I couldn't really tell much of a difference if any from what I get out of my 2009 QuickRod. The mid cut is the only option that can be retrofit, and I may end up doing that to mine. Sometimes the mid bite these amps naturally have is a little overwhelming, but an optional cut switch might be in my favor.

Pretty sure Splawner who is a member here had the first one built, fully loaded.

Yeah, I wonder if they are in fact taking old heads in to do the mid cut retrofit. And of course what would it cost and what would the turn around be?
I have an '09 as well so I know the new/old switch is not an option to add to mine.

The B+ is now a swithchable option , you now can get regular or drop voltage on the same amp .

Do you guys know how I can date my Quickrod?
Is there a number somewhere?
Thanks.

I'm sending my pro stock back to have these options done. I already have the B+. Just need the mid and voicing switch. I'll report back

First few digits of the serial number is the year.

Yeah Vince has one. I think he has owned it about 6 months. He should chime in pretty quick. Maybe even do some Loudness clips for ya! :rock:

First two numbers are year(so a 2011 would be 11)next number is a 10 or 50 signifying wattage of 100 or 50w. That's how ya tell

What do they charge? I'm interested in the new/old and Mid cut switches. I have the switchable B+ on mine already too.

I'm about midway through a Competition build small head box 50 watt and I chose the New/Old option and the Mid Cut option .... Can't wait to get it home!! Scott is a pleasure to work with I'm a die hard Splawn and Friedman player!

Sending my 2013 Low B+ back to scott for the mid cut and old/new in a week or 2.

Scott is retrofitting old amps now ? Wow I am surprised.

The B+ option is more of a feel thing than a sound difference. I owned 2 QRs and could never get along with them. I went to Lord Tone Kings and played his 2006 QR and I immediately wanted another QR. I have contemplated a 50 watt QR with all the new options. Since he is offering the original circuit again I want one. The 2009 and 2012 B+ I had were just no where near as mean at Lord Tone Kings 2006 QR. LTK's completely smoked my amps and his had the sound I could never get that I kept hearing on Youtube etc etc.

I guess the question is...can a switch really capture that old mojo? I would like to think so, but as we all know sometimes there is no substitute for the real thing.

Huh, mine says QR108674... I always guessed that meant it was a 2010 but maybe 100w? Wonder what year mine is then

And I'm interested in hearing what everyone thinks of the new/old switch and how much Scott is charging for something like that

According to my manual:
First two numbers = model
QR = Quickrod
Third number = wattage
1 = 100 watt
Fourth and fifth number= year
08 = 2008
Remaining numbers = how many produced at the time
674 = 674th Quickrod made
