Splawn Quickrod & Nitro settings?

Finally recording guitars for my bands EP Sunday. I am being loaned the Splawns from a friend to mix with my JVM.

The music is classic heavy metal, wanting a mix of modern and old school for the guitar tone so any settings or tips would be appreciated.

start with first gear, everything on noon..dial in gain to taste

When i had my Quickrod i had the treble set to 0,thickens the mids nicely.

that does do that...but I found that setting to take away alot of the bite and percussive nature of the amp...then again, depends on the speakers too...the treble and mid knobs interact alot with one another

This is me with a basswood maple top Axis w/ stock pups...

we dialed my nitro like this for our upcoming EP:
resonance 3 o'clock
presence 3
bass 12
middle 2
treble 12
gain 12
down tuned chugga chugga... and it sounds amazing!!
