SS100 and BE 100 owners...

Which amp has more pronounced upper mids and more upfront in a mix?
 
Superunknown has both. He could answer that question most effectively.
 
Isn't the SS supposed to be thicker/beefier which would suggest the BE might pop out in the mix better :dunno:

Yes, someone who's played both will be interesting to hear from.
 
Both Amazing amps, -
I would say the BE has the more mids and brighter - the SS is darker and has more of a vintage sound than the BE. That being said .... For some reason IMO, the SS just cuts better in the mix with a more vintage feel.
 
Thanks for the review! I was thinking that more vintage would mean brighter with more mid range and modern to be more dark with only a lower mid... Ive never heard of vintage described as dark before... hmmm well then, looks like the BE has more of the stuff required to cut through but does not cut through for you as well as the SS100- which has less of whats needed to cut through? Do I have it right? lol
 
Have you watched the video of the SS vs the Superlead? They are nearly identical in tone. So, it seems that the SS could get you what want with more options.
 
I really can't explain it. The SS just ends up being the hero in a mix

Look at all those amps in your sig.!

i just got my JJ today.

It is one great sounding head.

I think it may have the best sounding cleans that i have ever heard on a high gain head.
