In this video. He keeps playing sloppy shit and talking while John is trying to teach peeps how to sweep. Jealous much??? :D (jk, but it is annoying)
 
Wow. I would've taken his guitar from him within 2 minutes of that shit. Can't believe John dealt with it for that long.
 
Who Dares play in the presence of JP ? :gethim: Yeah, that would get old quick. I don't like that guy much after seeing him in action on his forum. He is not making me want to run out and buy and of his guitars. :thumbsdown:

I am not the biggest fan of it either. I like it when it is a lot slower and not just more "Look what I can do!" like JP is doing here. Do not misunderstand, he has plenty of awesome muscial sweep progressions, I am just saying as a general statement.
 
Only sweeper I can stand is Yngwie, and I can only listen to him for so long. Let me say this though, they are both AMAZING guitarists (Petrucci and Yngwie) and I am never gonna be as good as them, but I just hate the way it sounds. I know it takes skill and can be difficult to do right, but it's like an annoying fly buzzing around my head that I can't swat. It's WAY overplayed right now too. That's all you hear in Guitar Center, 13-14 year-olds playing the same sweep lick over and over. :doh:
 
Many sweeps though are rakes or just picking in a way that is more economical/easier. Sometimes it's nice to sweep a 3 or 4 note arpeggio into a sustaining note too... it's not all just wheedly wheedly wheedly. If you specifically avoid the technique you're limiting yourself.

I've seen these vids! They use to have a lot of comments left by ppl saying "what a dick he is for interupting him and making smartass comments", then they went and disabled the comments because of it! For anyone that has been to the EB/MM forum, it's pretty well known that the guy is a complete asswipe.
 
God, it's so fucking annoying first at :50 seconds and then again at about 1:00, that douche starts playing random shit. Watch it again and look at how JP looks at him. Like he wants to rip his face off. :gethim: :lol: :LOL: Can't believe he didn't ask him to shut up!

BIG props to John Petrucci for being so patient and tolerant. A lot of guitarrists would have thrown their guitar at him. :lol: :LOL:

Yup, I can't stand that forum.
 
IMO, Ernie Ball guitars sell despite Sterling Ball. His antics on his forum are a joke. The JP clinic video is just more of the same.
