hows the hedge trimming going?

i cant believe the amplifier that triggered the classifieds snowball effect was a SLO, damn you must have been gassing hard for that one - must be a relief! no pun intended of course

ok, im done. carry on :D

I am dying t know too... Steve, did you finally get a SLO? Details..

I hope it goes slow as I hate shipping amps :aww: Regardless of the SLO, the Jose/Aldrich mods is where it is at for me. Too bad Cameron is a dick though and can't do mods anymore. Still got a couple Marshall mods incoming though from other guys. I found myself doing less playing and more forcing amps to sound like something they cannot. If an amp doesn't bring instant gratification without excessive tweaking, it is getting boxed back up. Simple.....

Grandma's testing it for me now. She doesn't like the Sovtek 5881's either. So, I got a quad of SED 6L6's waiting for it. Just got delivered there yesterday. Will be here in 5 days. Brand spanking new with Depth, Hayne's (who the fuck is he anyway?) and Mid-scoop factory mods.

Looks Awesome. Warren Haynes. You have to know him. Government Mule Dude. Loves SLO's

Yup, Save the best for last! No tweaking.. Instant gratification there Fo SHo !

the one thing i liked about a SLO that a 5150 does not hold a candle too is A: every knob has tones available from 0-10, whereas a 5150 has sweet spots and starts to sound like shit above or below it, and B: the SLO seemed to have a MUCH higher sweet spot in headroom. what i mean is that most 5150's just start to sound great around 3-4, whereas the SLO i managed to play was only starting to get warmed up around 2 on the volume which was already stupid loud, i knew there was no way i could open it up properly without having cops being called.

tone wise though a modified 5150 II was too close for me to justify ever owning a SLO - being 5150's were based off of them, 5150's are good enough for what i do.

Never played a Wizard, but since Wizards do not seem to be reinventing the wheel, ill assume they are close to marshalls on the power end. and with that being said ill put it this way. Ive never heard of anyone diming a SLO, but i could almost guarantee the tubes would start naturally compressing before the transformers started to sag on their B+ and max current potential. i know Wizards offer custom tafo's as well, so i would say yes :D

cabs are a pain in the ass to ship. but, if i really like the amp a lot, i will probably order one. empty though. soldano only peddles those Eminence V1216's and I remember really not liking them at all. i got plenty of combinations to test with though in the bogner cabs, front and rear load.

Well, I love my soldano cab with the stock EmiV1216, how the fuck would you know, youve never played a SLO with that cab with those speakers? Play the goddamn amp with what Mr SOLDANO intended you to play it with! ;)

ah, mike is on his made in the USA kick when it comes to speakers. not always the best choice, but......i may never know. got plenty of speakers that i think will work just fine, if not better and saves a fortune on shipping one empty as opposed to having 50lb of speakers in it.
