Still Snorkler love?

I’ve had a modded Marshall from all the big names except Jose A, Morin(had a preamp) and Langner(46-2 is finishing up on a Langner type mod on my 72 100).
I can easily say the Snorkler is the best 50w modded Marshall I’ve owned or played. Everything is all there. Feel, clarity, great mids, tight lows….chewy factor is very cool and just like the 67/68 Plexis I’ve had/have.
Amazing amp.

Played an old Marshall with a Bogner blue board mod, that was supposedly the same as the og Snorkler, anticipating that I'd buy it.
Didn't love it. Lots of mids, kind of congested unless cranked, not the most dynamic. Kind of like most of the Bogners I've had. I had lengthy a Bogner phase, buying most of the different models. Loved them, but eventually found that they're not my preferred feel or sound.
IME that doesn’t really apply to this Snorkler 50. Fwiw that blueboard mod also isn't a Snorkler mod or sound and feel like this amp, but still is sought after. Compared to most other Bogner's this is voiced more Marshall-y, snarly and not as dark or smooth. Feel-wise imo kind of its own thing too. It has a stickiness to its feel in the same way Naylor's do, but otherwise very different from those amps

I've said it before, but also with the blue board modded Marshall I had, besides needing to be loud, it also needed to have its mids dialed back a ton (even all the way off sometimes) and then besides de-congesting it, it also made the amp a lot more focused/less flubby and clearer. I really didn't care for it either until I did that. I didn't keep it ultimately, but it was to me one of the better modded Marshall's I've had. A lot of Bogner's, especially the Uber's, need very weird EQ settings, but my Snorkler 50 settings are pretty normal actually

That's probably what appeals to me about it. It's got more mids and snarl and is less dark than most bogner stuff, and it's just more my thing
Yeah it basically takes away most of what I don’t like about most Bogner’s (too dark, smooth, polite) and fully keeps the part that I really think is most key to distinguishing Bogner’s from other amps: the chewiness and actually think it’s the most chewy Bogner I’ve played without needing to be as overly low mid dominant. I think the great feel as usual is the byproduct of all this and the saturation to its gain

Still dig the crap out of mine.. think I got mine back at the end of October. I've been on a Recto kick lately, but the Snorkler is my favorite modded Marshall style amp I've owned, to the point where I might even sell my '96 101B. The Snorkler snarls, has just enough low end, and feels great under the fingers.
oh no you don't. I need to play that thing before you sell it!!!

You're use of the words chewy and sticky in the same paragraph stirs my loins.
Chewy triggers me. That social media era TGP speak. I just want to know if it has clang content or not. If so, I could start doing Snorkler fanboy threads and drop the JAMES TYLER shit for a while.

You probably know about the 'chewy' thing. That 69 Twin I had, when cranked had some of that chewy thing...and, a particularly killer 66 Bassman had even more of it when loud/boosted. Definitely more of a 'vintage' amp thing apart from the Bogners.

Like on the bridge pickup you mean? On my Twin with a 57 classic bridge maybe it's chewy but I guess that's not how I think of it. A good vintage, biting tone. That 69 had the input cap values changed towards some sort of Dumble mod value or whatever. It actually sounds even more awesome but now I need to have the same mod done to the 72, lol. Never ending $$$

I would say this is common in a bunch of amps in that circuit family. I've had multiple bassmans and bandmasters that had the "Chewy" thing going on.

The ab165 circuit specifically, it seems to be the strongest

I must come clean.. the name Snorkler
sounds like the name of one of them super-straws
that sketchy dudes go “Shrimpin’” with…
I want to play the riff to “Cold Hard Bitch” over & f’n over with that amp through my Zilla 4X12 w/Heritage Greens and fire in the fucking hole that damn Snorkler up proper.
-no super-straw needed👍

Honestly, this amp is so good I'd recommend everyone grabbing one to try; if new from a retailer then they all have good return policies if you don't dig it. But, if you like to have a good Marshall around, this amp is a helluva deal for less than 3K. New build, 2 ch, loop, built in gate, and you can push the master up for some nice power tube compression and by using the loop vol, keep it quiet enough for the kids to sleep without waking.

It has a gate? I don’t remember seeing that.

I love mine. Took me a couple of days to figure it out and get the most out of it but once I did, its one of the most fun and addicting amps to play through. it’s a modern classic for sure. Sounds fantastic with a bunch of different speakers and dial with your ears as always. What I mean is don’t be afraid to dime certain knobs depending on the speakers you are playing through. Takes boosts very well but can easily get honky so choose your booster wisely and dial accordingly.

Yeah guys don't talk about it, but it's actually a lot of amp for the money imo with also those nice features/conveniences, especially with most other great gear being so pricy these days

here in europe: 3550€ for a one channel amp with different modes? no thank you!

Well that's a bummer, but they're almost 1000 less than that here in the US. I still don't think that's too bad though when you consider for example Lenz and a few others are also one channel with fewer features, just one mode and more expensive
