i've been wondering for years what effect, if any, would there be if i made my own plywood back for my 2 cabs that have MDF backing.

anyone?

im all for trying it...just wondering ahead of time. i've actually been debating this for a really long time.
gonna put the gh100's back in it too, it's x patterned with t75s right now.

It will sound better IMHO.

I know several years ago when I was working on the road in construction, I ended up in San Antonio and started looking for some gear locally and found a JCM 900 Vintage cab on craigslist for $250 in Austin, and when I went to get it the owner was like well are you gonna talk me down and I told him no. IT was beat the V30's were gone and replaced with T75's but for the price you couldnt go wrong. Still have that cab to this day with an X of V30's and T75's and it sounds great. Who cares what they look like, its what they sound like that matters.

Just traded mine away for a Mesa Recto 2x12 - I found the 75s to be really shrill and lacking in the midrange. It also didn't have the low end that I expected a 4x12 to have.

Get the cab, replace the G12T-75's with your speaker(s) of choice. The 75's just... dunno... limp...
