Hey Jeff and Rigg talk guys,

Question what are you putting in the preamp tube sockets in the MOD 50 head itself (not modules). I am moving away from EH tubes due to the last batch o' shotty ones that became microphonic in the head after one gig and crapped out in the BMAN module after a few jams. Sooo... I am sure this has been a topic before but I can't find it. I swear Jeff once said they were using all 12AX7s in the head instead of one 12AT7 but I can't remember. i will stop guess now and let y'all chime in.

Thanks in advance.
Ross

sovtek 12ax7wa .. and yes Jeff did state that the sockets that used to ship with a 12at7 are now shipping with an ax7 in place...one of the positions of the M4 was certainly an at7 (v1?) but I don't recall if the MOD50 had any in it.

Is there a change to the MOD 50 head so that the 12AT7 is no longer needed or can I just toss a 12AX7 in mine and call it a day?

I believe that's cool. I took the 12AT out of mine, no problem. I forget which position that one is in, but I think it might be the parallel loop tube. No problem either way, change it out if you feel like it.
