I am picking up a Metro 12xxx, and having it modded w/ tweaks, done by Jerry Dyer.

The amp is a Metro 12xxx series head. It has a white headbox with a Mercury Magnetics OT and vintage Sozo Caps, JJ pre-amps & Mullard re-issue power tubes. It also has a PPIMV, already installed.

The other amp I was considering, just didn't feel right-- after seeing the meh condition and the price the seller was asking, seemed too high. I am excited to get this thing cranking.

Ya, I've been wanting one for a while. I miss my old Mojave Peacemaker, and this should get me what I want in spades, plus I've always wanted a white Marshall Plexi type head. It'll be right at home on my white Marshall 4x12 cab, w/ the Cameron modded Marshall SLP head- sitting on top.

They are fun. In the last few years, guys have just gotten so good with the mods... I love it.

This one has me hopeful, for being a great platform to get the mod done well.

I'm sure Jerry will put the good tune on it. I have built a couple 12xxx amps for guys and they always sound great. Looking forward to clips when you get it back.

Thanks Brian... I am eagerly awaiting the new arrival, and am ultra enthusiastic about testing the patience of some neighbors, as I have every confidence that brother Jerry is going to make this puppy SCREAM for me. LOL

Why don't you get it and play some Halen through it before you turn it into a 2203 (preamp) with lowered filtering? I have basically the same amp built by George with the PPIMV and I am getting GREAT Van Halen tones with it stock. Personally, I recommend you play it first before spending any more cash and I bet Jerry would agree with me...

Mark (Rockstah) Posted the Mod 5 schem publically on the Metro forum. He left links up to the schem/diagram for ages. I guess he might of taken them down when he figured that he would start charging people for the mod but they might even still be available for all I know. Ive lost touch with all this stuff

Seriously, why get it hacked up to a 2203 until you hear and feel the raw power of the 12000. So Jerry does Rockstahs mods now? Rockstah yelled at Steve about copying his VH mod on the internet about this I do recall. I would feel a bit better sending it out to Jerry though, if he indeed does the same mod, Rockstah was recently pulling Cameronisms with men.

Yup and for the record, he was bummed at me me for saying I would tell people who were begging for their amps and money back when he was unresponsive how to do the mod. Which he really shouldn't care about since there still exists a thread on metro that spells it out EXACTLY. Someone also posted gut shots of one here when trying to sell it. I never saw a thread on metro with schems and layouts. Finally, I never copied that mod in an amp for myself or performed it for others. I have shared exactly what the mod is though... I see no harm in that since it is public record to this day on metro...

Im hooking him up at a fraction of what the other dude charges for it if ya know what I mean. If it already has the PPIMV then that price will be dropped even lower. Ill take care of him trust me. Ask some of the other guys. I work cheap for my bros.

ok check it out.. The Mod 5 is , lower the filtering in the PI. Change it to a 2203, maybe, I say Maybe if needed bypass the 10k on v1b, add a PPIMV ... done... how he can cal lthis his mod is beyond me. Besides the clips you hear are all doctored up. Ever heard a dry one with JUST THE AMP? nope................ I do the mods from a players standpoint and Im really cheap. no hype just simple mods at fair price.
