MURDERATOR
Turned the Windsor on and sometime later, about a minute or so it went off. I didn’t notice it go off though. When I discovered it I tried a few things first…different receptacle and even a different power cord. What is weird is about an hour later I hit the switch and it fired up and immediately went off. Then nothing. Dead 😵. wtf?

No idea. Assumed it was a fuse but when it came on later and then shut off that threw me for a loop.

Could be the contacts in the mains switch are done. They usually wear out over time. Pretty common issue of rocker switches in jcm800’s.

Not like this thing is full of high quality parts…lol. It’s an awesome power amp though.

So completely off? Mains and all? Inspect the fuses. If one is dead, replace it with one from your stock of spares. If it blows again, then pull the power tubes and fire it up w new fuse. If the fuse blows, then that tells you you have a larger problem down the line somewhere. Obviously make sure the power tubes are otherwise seated real well and watch for red plating etc. Best of luck bro.

I don’t really know much about peavey amps, but I know some amps have a thermistor of sorts on the power supply, could be the culprit

Da fuq? Where you been bro? Good to see you back….
I’ve been chillin, just not on any forums. I’ll still be around here and there though. I’ll check in before summer to make sure your A/C is working

Update.. glpg80 called good money… contacts are gone. So I have a question. My pv amp parts hook up can’t get the exact replacement switch… just out of curiosity why couldn’t I swap the stand by and power switch and just go with no standby switch? Cause I’m a hillbilly and I don’t gives no fucks about a pussy ass standby switch slowing me down when I get ready to bust out some epic slut bangin metaulz….. seriously though… is there any issue with that? The switch not the slut banging metulz…

Standby helps with letting filter and preamp caps charge before you connect tubes and load them down even further. Also helps relieve stress on the PT during turn on.

Typically I’m a pretty big fan of standby switches if you’re turning amps on and off a lot. I’d find an equivalent switch and replace it and move on.

Any suggestions?

Any switch would work right? It’s nothing special right?
