Schallers for me all the way. I've used them all over the years. I find it the easiest and quickest to latch and unlatch on the first attempt. I don't care about the looks of any of them. If they get squeeky put some of your nut lube   on them and your good for another year. STAY AWAY FROM THE ERNIE BALLS.

Over-sized strap buttons.

Started using them years ago and never looked back. Never, ever had a strap come off one of these. It's a tight fit to get the strap on it. All my guitars get them.

$5.00 one time for each guitar instead of the cost of strap locks every time you pick up a new strap.

I really like this concept!!! Do you have a link for the website where you bought these? Also Im guessing the idea is, that the button is so freakin huge that there is no way the strap comes off without some serious wear first. Also just a guess, but would you install the strap on the smaller side of the button so the strap wont stretch trying to get over that huge button end, and then screw it onto the guitar? I want to do this with a nice taylor guitar, but would it look awkward?

When I used the large strap pins, I would remove the pin, and push the smaller side through the strap, and then reattach to the guitar.

Isn't it a pain to take the strap off? I could see using these if you keep the strap on the guitar in the case, but taking the strap on and off seems like a lot of effort.

I actually bought mine at my local guitar shop (not GC).

Yes, the button is big enough that it takes some effort to get the strap on and off. It's simple and it works. No clunky connection at the guitar.

I use a combination of schaller and large washers. My ML and BC Rich both have large washers on the front pins because they are located behind the body and not on the horn. The washers stay close to the guitar body as opposed to the straplocks which dig into my ribs. +1 on the locktight for the schallers. BTW I have'nt read this yet but I have had to replace the strap pins of the schallers a couple of times as well. It seems they ware out to a point where they won't snap in like they are suppose to. I replaced the lock twice before realizing it was the pin and not the lock that was failing. (two in 20 years) My .02

Ive been using dunlops for like 10 years. I have never had a problem with them, and I think that most people who do, its because of user error. The ones that you can countersink into the guitar are great because you dont have the extra metal sticking out, but then you sacrifice the ability to stick a strack without a lock on it. Either way, I like the dunlops.

I've used the Dunlop locks for about 7 years. Good stuff and never had a problem.
My main straps are two of the Dunlop Red Monkey range and the locks fit and perform well.
