Strap Locks

Which brand of strap locks do you use and why ? Les-pauls? Strats ?
 
Schaller - Les Pauls and SGs. Why? When I asked around I was told they were the best.
 
Schaller for my LP's. I had Dunlops and Schaller's on each for a while. The Dunlop's failed twice in the same month and it was not user error. I also don't like how far off the body the strap sits with the Dunlop's and Ernie Balls.
 
:confused: I have had the nut come loose on the schallers before.
I guess auto locktite would be the cure for that ? :doh:
 
Dimarzio clip lock with the extra long fasteners.. :thumbsup:

My current strap is 15 years old, extra long fasteners more than 10 yrs old.
All I ever did was buy extra fasteners for multiple guitars and use the same strap
Besides the fastener side scratching the clear coat on some guitars never had a problem with one failing... :thumbsup:
 
I use Schaller, but I don't think they're ideal.

1. The nuts come lose every other month
2. The screws holding the strap pin work themselves out every oter 6 months
3. It's a pain to get the huge thing into the hole on some leather straps

Still wondering if anyone's gotta invent something better.

All three have had issues, i have used Dunlop dual design for almost 4 years OK, but i did notice small stress fractures on the shafts that lock into the button part, so i bought another set for my Les Paul and replaced the shaft part, not taking any chances, i will replace them in 1 to 2 years again.
 
schaller ones are terrible from experience.
I ONLY use dunlop flushmounts

3. It's a pain to get the huge thing into the hole on some leather straps - Man up.

I use zepplin Strap locks, they are much better than schaller in my experience with them. Never come loose and are easy to put on and off of guitar and strap.very easy to install too.
 
Hate locking straps. I use over-sized strap buttons and never have a problem. These go on all of my guitars. Never had a strap come off.

i have schallers on a carvin and a les paul, dimarzio clip-locks on a caparison and a 7 string. both work great and i've never had a problem with either.
 
I use Schaller and definitely have to retighten the nut occasionally, but other than that I've never had a problem. I used to be wild with my guitars in my more punk days, and never had a problem form the strap locks. I've tried Planet Wave locks and it performed fine for awhile, but the ball bearing used to lock eventually came too loose to rely on. I've never had one of those DiMarzio straps though.
 
Only problem with the Dimarzio strap locks is the plastic pieces which can scratch a bit and are a bit fragile. But then you can get the nicer looking metal ones... and get more scratching. I stepped on mine and broke the plastic clip, which means trouble in tight situations and figured perhaps a metal piece would last longer. Then I realized the risk of scratching is much greater. So still no golden product.
But otherwise the Dimarzio ones are very reliable and easy to use/install.

Same here. I've just about got rid of all my strap locks. Hate em.
Oversized buttons for me.
I also use these killer straps now that have a little slider button on the piece that connects to the guitar. Things are awesome. Can't think of the name????
No more locks for me. Unnecessary. :thumbsdown:
