I've got a Strat that I really dig, but I hate the feel of the string height adjustment allen screws poking the underside of my hand. It literally drives me insane and is a total deal breaker, thus my Strat in the classifieds. Anybody else have this problem? What do you do? Cut the screws shorter? Buy shorter screws? Is there another bridge where they don't protrude from the saddles? What say you!!!???

Just buy shorter screws (all over eBay) or cut them down. Some aftermarket saddles/bridges already use shorter screws.

Hold them with needle nose pliers and take it to the grinder. I use a hand grinder with a flat wheel. Careful not to mess up the threads

Just ordered some 6mm replacement screws. Thanks for the tips.

Jeff, either swap out the bridge as mentioned or slightly shim the neck allowing you to raise the saddles so they’re not tearing into your hand. I hate those too.

I had the same problem. One reason I stay away from Strats, seems like it was always my pinky finger that got eaten up. I would imagine the quality of the screws would have some impact, as far as how sharp they felt.

I really love the tone of Strats, and have actually been wanting to try another!

You could get a set of these. I have a set I am not using and would sell cheap.

That's a great idea, Paul. If the 6mm screws are still bothering me, I'll try that also.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Hopefully these 6mm screws will solve the problem.

Same problem here! Always want to like them, but hate those screws! I'll report back when I get those shorter screws.
