For the strat guys out there, do you like to have the middle pickup Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity (RWRP) or not? I was reading on the gear page and some people thought RWRP changed the tone a bit in positions 2 and 4. Others thought there was no difference.

The canceling of noise would be nice with RWRP, but not at the expense of tone. So what do you guys prefer?

I prefer the reverse round in the middle so that you can cancel hum on 2nd and 4th position. However on my new 69's, they dont come with a reverse wound middle, so im dealing with it. : )

I like mine non- RWRP...Jimi's and countless others did'nt have that option. From a vintage purist standpoint....NON- rwrp. Go for what you like man!!

Reverse wound for me.
+1  This gives you the classic strat sounds in positions 2 and 4.

You should get the classic strat sounds in position 2 and 4 regardless of the middle being RWRP or not.

they also only had a 3 way selector switch, no reason for reverse wound

Or get the Suhr noisless backplate which you have to have
NON reverse wound to make it work correctly.
Highly reccomended!!

I like my Strats with an HSH or HS setup. If HSH, I really don't care since I prefer the 3 way switching ala Dave Murray/Kossoff Strat. That's just me though....and Dave....and Kossoff (RIP).

What is really strange is that Suhr offer their sets of 3 single coil pickups with the middle RWRP only. You have to buy them separately if you don't want the middle RWRP.
