D'addario XL's forever, use on Floyd Rose equipped guitars..DR Cool Blues on string through and tail piece equipped guitars..The XL's seem to retain their tone, especially brightness, and the DR's hold tune awesome and have a nice feel.

Ernie Ball M Steel .10-.46 I love the tone these strings put out

Elixrs on everything but been dabbling with Ernie Ball Slinkys again on my #1. I hate changing strings and have a lot of guitars. Elixrs last forever on the ones I don't play often and I get a few months out of the ones I play a lot. Still love the feel of Slinkys so I bought a few sets recently.

Well holysumbitchgoddarnnit.... Almost 40 years with guitars and playing and musos and bands and studio shit and gigs and jams, and I have NEVER heard of these strings before.

At least not to my current mind's recollection (there were a few years/decades that had some, well, let's just say a bit foggy at best...)
Google Search Up Next!!!

FWIW, just googled them... I have seen the packaging/marketing of these before, but honestly, know nothing of 'em.

D'addario is the only brand to make an 11-56 pack so I'm stuck with them. They're the perfect tension for Drop C tuning. It's cool though, they're good strings.

I used D'Addario from 1988 to 2002 when I switched over to Elixers. I have been very happy with the Elixers. They tend to last a long time and I can usually get a couple of gigs out of them.

Like many, I used D’Addario 9’s at first, then went to 10’s for quite a while.
Last couple of years moved to Elixirs, Nanoweb 10’s. Now Elixir’s on everything.

Cobalt Slinkys......love the "upfront" tone of these while retaining their "slinkyness". Great strings.

I've been using Elixir Nanowebs, 10s, for a good few years now. Seem to have a good balance of string life, sound & cost.

Curt Mangan and IQS were new to me when I dove in to my recent testing. Didn't end up trying any, but like you, I was a bit surprised by something new after all my time playing.

I only use Kalium, since they were circle K, about 2013.

I calculate all my strings for each guitar/tuning/tension.

I’ll never go back to unbalanced strings, they play and sound worse IMO.

I thought Kals were only for bass guitars...?? Cool. Will check them out.

Update:
So far??
Love the tone of the GHS Boomers, just wish they didn't feel gummy so quickly, 11-50 set (Lesters)
Love the feel of the D'Addario XL Nickel Wound (balanced or not) 11-49 set (Lesters)

Still playing around with the D'Addario 10s on the 25.5(+) scale guitars; and the 10-59 on my 7string vs the EB 11-58 Ernie Ball Power Slinky. I have several ESPs 6 and 7 string - the jury's still out for these guitars, their pickups, their respective amps, etc.

Beefy Slinkys were my preference for years; gotta say I like the feel of the D'Adds better, and the tone of the GHS Boomers better.
DR's are nice, but availability might be a problem down the road, but for what they are and their respective price, meh...
Dunlop feel kinda like EBs and sound like 'em too.
Rotosounds are smacking good, but I prefer heavier E/A/D gauges, and availability is sketchy.

Carrying on into the 25.5" and ERG guitars for more R&D

Amps played: JJ100, Butterslax, XTC, Shiva and Atma Combo.
Pickups: Many....!!

Dean Markley Blue Steel 11-52 for all tunings. If I can't find the Blue Steel I use D'addario EXL 11-52.

I've gone round and round on this so many times.

I just recently switched back to using D'Addarrio XL's after the last several years I mainly used Kalium (Circle K) balanced sets, also many custom sets from there. Before Kalium/Circle K, I used D'Addarrio for years.

Over the last 10 years, I also had spurts for Dunlop, Fender, Ernie Ball, GHS and DR's. I have a stash of left over strings that's kind of like a historical walk through for my different spurts. I agree with the gummy feeling on the Boomers or it may have been the EB's for me, can't remember exactly, but didn't care for either.

I've also gone through most sizes and what I've fallen back to are 10-46 and 10-46 with a 59 for 7-strings. Was pretty set, but then just yesterday I bought some 11-49's to try those again, haha. It never ends, but I think I've pretty much settled on the D'Addarrio 10's and/or 11's for a while.

NYXL's and I hate myself for trying them. Not really, but at $12 a pop, it kinda stinks that they're so good. I've played EB's, Dunlop, GHS, DR, and I kept going back to D'Addario. Tried the NYXL's and strings had never felt so good. My guitar seemed to stay in tune better, and they last a long time. So for now that's what I'm sticking with. I use different gauges for different guitars, 9-42, 9-46, 10-52, 10-59... and they all are great.
