Sweet!!! I might check one out when I get Marshall back from Dan.

Well Todd's use of the El Capistan does not sound like it sucks in the loop. it rocks!!!!

I'm just gonna take the plunge.

It sounds bitchin' and has everything I'd want in a delay pedal.

Gonna put a Clinch EP in front of this too.
DUDE! Get the Badgerplex PRE instead for out front, PLEASE! Trust me on this, it is WAY better...

I also forgot that I actually have a clip of the El Cap in the Metro solid state loop!

Here is the clip of the Badgerplex PRE in front of a Metropoulos 12000 Series and the El Cap in the loop:

Here is what you are hearing:

This was:

Suhr Scott Henderson Sig Guitar
Suhr Fletcher Landau single coils w/SSC system
Set on 5 way switch position 4 (5 is highest position towards top of guitar - bypasses the tone control on this guitar) --->

Badgerplex Vintage pre set at 10:00 (this is an exact replica of an EP3 preamp) --->

Metropoulos 12000 Series:

Standby set in the "variac" mode (down)
Upper left input
PPIMV - 4
Presence - 7
Bass - 10
Middle - 10
Treble - 9
Volume I - 8 --->

4x12 with Celestion G12H30s

El Capistan is set as follows and was in the Metropoulos solid state loop:

Time at 11:30
Tape Head on single head
Mode A
Tape age 10:30
Repeats at 10:00
Wow & flutter at 1:00
Mix at 9:00

Secondary functions:
Spring Reverb off
Low End Contour off
Tape bias at 9:00
Tape crinkle off
Boost/Cut 12:00

I also turned on a Bob Sweet Mojo Vibe about 3/4 of the way through (after the Badgerplex, in front of the amp):

Set for chorus
Volume - 3
Intensity - 7
Speed - 3

I've just received my El Cap' yesterday so it's still the honeymoon phase, but I must say I've been very impressed. In the last year I've been flipping between the 2 versions of the Flashback, the Timefactor and the Timeline, and I've never bonded so fast with a delay.

I use it in the switchable serial loop of the Hagen, no problem for me.

I have the Roland SE3000 so there is not much out there that beats that for delays expect for the TC2290!!!

I used john4021's while visiting and it was/is awesome! I've been gassing ever since

Sounded great in the loop of my quickrod and his Herbert. A delay that makes everything sound better and inspires you to play. I absolutely loved it....much more than my flashback

I have two SDE 3000s. The El Cap is a different animal. It simulates a tap echo. Sounds and does very different stuff than a digital delay...

Congrats man  Wait til you start digging into the secondary features. Just an awesome pedal.

I was actually at Tone Merchants when the Strymon guy came by with the pedals to demo. I fell in love with the El Capistan. I purchased one on the spot. Unfortunately, the first run did not come in for a couple of weeks. It hurt me that day to leave without one. Great pedal!

Thanks ! I started this morning and it's so good that I forgot to go and take Mrs Reiep at work. She hates the El Cap now. This lack of WAF is another plus for me ;)

Thanks for the in depth breakdown man!

Perfect starting point as well once I get the pedal.

I looked at the Badgerplex website but I can't find much info on the pedal. The one I viewed was the Badgerplex Trinity. Is that a deviation from the one you used?

Thanks again Steve. Just killer stuff.

Anytime man. I just figured since I found a clip I forgot about that allows you to hear the El Cap in the exact solid state metro loop you will be using, I'd post it. I don't get anyone saying it doesn't sound good in a loop...

I have no experience with the Trinity, but it looks like the latest of the Badgerplex Pre that I have. Just for the record, here is the one I use. It is really killer. Adds that chimey boost that an Echoplex does:

Yeah I'm loving it.

I won't be getting the Cap until Christmas time. Have to pay for our vacation and last semester of College for now. Glad I settled on this pedal a while back and it's great to hear that guys still love it years later.

If you don't mind my asking, how much was the Badgerplex pedal? I didn't pricing of any sort on the website.

I believe I paid $150-175 for it give or take a few bucks... not 100% sure...

That's not bad at all.

Here I am thinking it's going to be one of those "Ask for the Price" type of things

Didn't know I was buying a Klon.

Its my favorite Delay and I have a G-Major, Flashback, Carbon Copy, AD80 and a Timeline. It sounds fantastic it the loop of my Cornford.
