Amp and cab IR’s in a strymon pedal. Can load your own IR’s too. Stereo output. Looks like a pretty cool pedal. 3 amps: fender deluxe reverb, vox ac30 and a plexi. Wish it had heavier amp models, but maybe more will be coming? I think it’d be pretty cool and convenient, just wish it had gainier amp models.

Hmmm cool, but I was hoping to see something more from the thread title. Now if they go to the point where they approach stuff like ox, suhr rlir I will be all over it.

I was expecting more too. I doubt it's going to be cheap, but it's got very limited capabilities compared to, say, a Line 6 HX Stomp, and I don't really see any benefits... other than perhaps sound quality based on what the Strymon people have managed to bring to the table, but that vid doesn't make me go WOAH, TBH.

$399. I think the models are limiting and not my cup'o tea, but if they come out with more models it could be pretty good.

It's definitely limited, but I could see how having just a few options/channels, no screen, all physical knobs could appeal to some people.

This pedal is clearly aimed at pedal board people. You'll use these iconic amp models as "clean" pedal foundations to build on and flavor with your OD pedals. I've got some killer OD pedals (Friedman, Bogner, Strymon, Fulltone, etc) that can take a basic amp model and make them sound amazing. In fact, I keep switching between my Bad Cat Cub and Retro King amps as pedal platforms and am pretty much as happy as when I've run the big 50 and 100 watt channel switchers from Friedman, Bogner, etc. I think that this new Strymon pedal will be great for guys hauling around "fly rigs" and for worship music guys who are just running straight to FoH. Not sure if it will satisfy me, because I live for the amp-in-the-room sound... and always feel very isolated and detached from my rig when I've done modelers and pedals straight to FoH. I've got to have the immediate feedback of an amp right in my face. But there are lots of guys who like running straight to the mix and hearing their stuff through monitors.

Pretty much this. TBH it's very disappointing. Strymon makes great stuff IMO and they could have done better IMO.

I am for sure the target market for this as I am running my tube amp into a Suhr RLIR then going direct. Yes I only play live on Sunday's these days.

What I like about the Iridium is that its simple and easy to use. The stereo in and out is really cool as well.
I do wish it had an XLR or balanced 1/4inch outs so no direct box would be needed. I also wish you could disable the preamp sims, all the amp sims. I thnk you can only disable the IRs.

Currently debating between the Iridium and the Two notes CabM. I am on the list for a Kingsley Constable Plexi preamp and was going to run that into the Iridium or CabM. the CabM is nice in that it has an XLR out, but its not stereo. We do have a stereo PA where left and right in the house are separate.

I was also hoping the price would be $299, not $399.

I just saw something pop up the other day on FB from Ownhammer. I guess they are the official default IR for this pedal. I'm just curious if it loads a shit load of the ownhammer mic'd position IRs so you can turn a knob and hear em all, that would be cool.

It does come with some Ownhammer IR's preloaded. It holds 3 IR's per amp, so a total of 9 IR's. I think it's one of those things where if you can dial in a few good settings and are happy, then it's easy travel and setup or easy to just plug in and play. I'm hoping they come out with more metal type amps and then I may give it a try. I am a little surprised Strymon didn't have more amps and IR capacity on it, maybe it's a first step in something bigger.

TBH, I think it's great that they don't release another "one million amps and effects"-unit.
There are plenty of those already.

Fender also made a digital "Twin" and "Deluxe", where they put all the DSP into one amp model, and the reverb of said amp. Most pros get by with three models, and a pedal board, like mentioned in this thread. I also think this is directed at them. Guitar, pedal board, in-ears, done.

Considering the sound quality of their other offerings, it's probably three good models, and more than enough for anyone woh doesn't play modern metal :D

Pass. I'm waiting for the rackmount fx

Strymon has a great line of effects pedals, some of them that can be programmed for presets and are MIDI capable. I would like to see them enter the amp modeling/IR market with their effects or a rackmounted effects only that can run in 4 cable method. I'm really happy with the Fractal Audio FX-8 floor processor that I have though.

I fit in this profile myself as a guy who wants to use tube amps/pedals or processors/Palmer PDI-09 direct box onstage than the amp modeling/IR into the FOH and monitors type of set up. If I had to use it as a fly rig where there's no backline amp or the backline amp is of poor quality, I can picture myself plugging into the Strymon Iridium amp/IR cab pedal with a Fender amp type of setting with a good monitor level and let the house sound guy dial my sound in FOH. I kind of liked the Tech 21 character Blonde Bassman preamp pedal as a clean pedal platform to FOH type of set up. If I had to use a guitar preamp of my choice, I would use my ADA Depot 3TM Ultra mod MP-1 preamp.
