I'm really diggin' the new @line6 hd 500. I've dialed in the classic Stryper tone of old. The one I kept experimenting with for years!!!

Hey everyone @line6 - I'll upload tones down the road but for now, I'm running a parametric eq model in front of the JCM 800 model, followed by a graphic eq model, a delay and then the gate. I'm driving the front end of the JCM with the parametric - freq @ 800-1k, Q @ 80, gain @max - I always ran (and still do) a parametric in front of the amp, pre distortion. In the old days it was a Furman PQ-3, now the HD500

I needed to be able to place this effect pre distortion. I couldn't do this with the POD Pro or the XT, now I can with the HD 500! Awesome!!

Very cool, as long as they don't put any more jesus loving crap out there, I will be happy to check out his presets

I am still trying to get a good Line 6 tone dialed in with my JCM 800.....

They have a covers cd coming out, with tunes they played in the early years -- Iron Maiden, Ozzy, etc...

To Hell With The Tube Amps!!?

Speak of the tube ammmmppppssss
They're no friends of miiiiinnnnneeeeee
To turn them off is what we have in minnnnnddddd

I tried one of those new Line 6 amps today....it does a pretty decent job of the higher gain stuff, but the cleaner side I found lacking.

I'm sure it's good enough for Stryper.

You misunderstood me man...I was just saying the clean side of that amp is probably good enough to cover the Stryper clean stuff. I don't think they are known for their live sound by any means, but I wasn't hating on the band at all. I bought their last album and went to the show here in Nashville...so no hate on my side. To Hell with the Devil! lol

Ah, I did misunderstand, sorry! :)
I haven't seen Stryper live, but I always loved their guitar sound on record. I guess it should sound good, they played through some of the more expensive amps of their era.

Ive seen Stryper every time that they were around and Back in the day their Live tone was awesome. If you liked their Album tone then you would dig their live tone because they were one of the few bands who where able to capture that sound live.
With that said, when they first got back together their tone sucked...Period. When I saw them Oz was using a POD inot a Marshall and Michael was using a sans amp. I believe both of them used them with Marshalls and the tone blew. I guess They recently wised up and I saw video were they were using the Boogie Mark V's
with a para driver in front and their tone returned to the good ole days lol! Im sure if and when they start using the PODS again it's not going to be as good as there recent sound but it should be better then the previous POD tone IMHO.
I'm surprised that Michael has not yet heard about the Axe-fx because he is a gear hound like the rest of us and I think it's right up his alley. I was able to get a convincing Stryper tone out of the Axe, but it still wasn't as good as the boosted boogie tone, although it was still good and a hell of a lot of fun to play!!

Mark Day has a Ronni LeTerko preset for his Axe-Fx Ultra that with a few minor tweaks would just nail that tone

Both Stryper and LeTekro's tone are very similar although LeTekro's sound has a lot of the high end cut off whereas Strypers doesn't. With that said Mark's patch with a few tweaks would most definitely get that sound. I did that sound with the axe although my MKIV Boogie with a Parametric EQ in front nailed it better.
