My band is in the process of recording a new song with a startup studio, and yesterday was guitar day. I borrowed the 101b from a buddy of mine just for this occasion, and the Earhart and Soldano are mine. Soldano cab is loaded with V30s. I used the Bogner Blue channel - old style, for the underlying/support guitar tracks and the Green channel here and there in the verses, but the bulk of it was done with the Earhart. I will say that the Earhart sounded better through that cabinet than the XTC, and I would really like to use Greenbacks with the XTC anyway. We had a lot of problems with the mid spike that took a while to dial out by repositioning the mics (SM57 and AKG C 414). Raw tracks sounded really good to my ears, and as soon as the studio engineer emails me what he has so far I'll post a little teaser. Guitars I used were a PRS SE245 and a Sterling AX40-D.
I only had a couple days to mess around with the Bogner before recording with it, so I was still new to it when it came time to mic it up. I've owned the Earhart for almost 2 years now so I'm more than familiar with it in a studio and live environment, so dialing that in was cake. Having said that, the XTC is quite a lot smoother sounding than the Earhart. (Google - Jet City Earhart) The Earhart is quite aggressive compared to the XTC, and is more upper-mid voiced where I find the XTC to be lower-mid voiced. Double tracking with both amps makes a HUGE guitar section, even through the same cabinet.
