I hope to make a sale tomorrow. I want to buy a good, used tube amp for a pedal platform. It needs to be 600 or less (preferably less), but have a really good clean tone. It also needs to be a 112 combo with a enough bass response to justify the amp. I've been looking at the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amps, but I want more options before I jump on one.

Ampeg GVT series and the VHT "Special" series. Both are cheap and take pedals extremely well. I use the GVT 5 watt head + pedals for late night jamming. It has more clean headroom than any low watt amp I've ever heard. No experience on the VHT, but it is designed specifically as a pedal platform......I think it even has an onboard 9v power supply.

Peavey classic 30 or 50, crate vintage clubs 30 or 32. Fender blues deluxe or hot deluxe are other popular choices.

i've got a vht special 6 head. i've been using it as a pedalboard amp. it does take pedals very well. you just have to spend time dialing it in. i think "eyes" was talking about the special 12/20. don't let the low wattage rating put you off. i've used the special 6 for small club gigs without a problem.
lately i've been running my old rocktron pro gap pre amp into it. i can get some decent tones with this rig and with the built in hush it's quiet enough to record with.
btw.. i think i'd really like to have a special 12/20 r/t.. so yeah.. i'd buy another one. i've had my 6 for about two years and it's been flawless. speaker efficiency makes a big difference with the 6. i've run it through both a homebrew 1x12 with a vin 30 closed back or an early '50's jensen bluebell in an oversized homebrew open back. sometimes i'll use them both.

Used Deluxe Reverb reissue. Stellar amp for pedals. There is no better clean tone for the money.

I was gonna say Hiwatt but then you through in all those other requirements and totally fucked me up. Lol. I'm sure someone will chime with good suggestions :D

Edit for spelling

I haven't had any experience with VHT. Is there stuff quality?

it's a long story.. but i think axl has done a decent enough job with the brand since obtaining the rights from fryette. the special 6 is turret board construction and is basically their take on the aa 746 silver face champ circuit. the transformers are big enough and the controls work very smoothly. i went with the special because i use pedals so i can change basic tones rather than carry a bunch of amps or use a modeler.. and it takes them fairly well.. as long as you have some good glass in them and run a high efficiency speaker.
don't expect it to be a fryette. it's voiced more like a fender. then again i really like a '65 dr.

Any fender will work great HRDX included

Last week a drummer friend brought over a 100w master volume Silver Faced Fender Bassman head to try with my cabs and pedals....I was floored by how good the different OD's sounded....My Plexitone sounded the best I ever heard it, and a TS9 was really sweet as well.....I am looking for a clean one now after that experience. I even offered a Dean 79 ML set-neck reissue with factory case straight up on the spot because I wanted it so bad......no go....I don't blame him....
