Hi Randy - do you mean a Classic Lead 80?

Im not sure if they are the same speaker Olaf. I recently aquired an oversized 2x12 and it has Celestion G12H80's in it. They sound great no matter what amp I throw at them.
Interesting - I will have a look to get some more info. I like the CL80s (I believe I have one somewhere).
Merci !

hey olaf, don't mean to hijack the thread but, how good is the rig-talk pedal?

sounds good for blues od tones?

Its very cool. Goes from boosting to overdrive, in a good, warm way. Still edgy with enough attack. Has several modes too.

Sure you can, but only if the new owner isn't a forumite, Joey :)

oh and you should open a STW (Spread The Wealth) thread with that pedal offering!

It was a "charity/donation" thing for RigTalk.
I have to look it up what the minimum was, Joey.

The G12H80 is not a Classic lead. From what I was told, they were developed for Line 6 and they changed their mind and went to something else. Mojo had a bunch of them at one point. I picked up a pair to try, they were more like a higher power V30 type speaker.

Just think of the G12-65 as like a Greenback thats improved allround. Better balanced top end, can handle more low end without going mushy, smooth mids, thicker sounding, more headroom etc.

I think you would love it Olaf!! :)

I am not sure exactly the sound you are looking for, but the Alnico Golds do rock. I think a Weber Blue dog with a ceramic magnet would be cool too.

I have a Weber G1265 that I am going to be selling. Nice speaker, pretty dark though. I kind of wished it had more highs and its not a good match for my fender amp....

Merci.

I'm voicing my stuff pretty smooth, so the speaker needs to have some treble - although thinking of it, I always tweak with a speaker or cab, so I'm flexible . . .
The amp wil have a DlxRev clean, a meaty crunch and a smooth (not DMetal) lead, traditional I'd say, but with some modern attitudes like good tightness and a good portion of punch.

For myself - when I'm old and just play in the living room, Joey :D

hehe, man I wish I could have that gift.... I'd have like 15 DIY amps haha

The Celestion H65 is pretty smooth on the treble response, but not really dark. The Gold interests me, but wow are they expensive!
