Suggestions for a rippin 1x12 combo tube amp? Looking for an amp that can cover classic rock tones (VH, ACDC, floyd) and some more modern tones too.. Any suggestions? I'd like to not spend more than $1200 on it if possible

Mesa Mk III $600-$800. I guess a Mk IV but they cost more. You can always through a marshall Jmp-1 in the loop for more Marshally tones.

Has a good clean and takes pedals well.

+1 on the Electradyne, or a Mesa F50. I'd also consider the new Marshall DSL 40 or the Peavey 6505+ 112 combo.

6505+ is a brutal metal machine on the lead channel, but the crunch cleans up a little bit for great rock tones. Cheaper by half than your budget; worth playing if you can try one.

what about the Marshall DSL 15C w/ a EVH greenback speaker?

EDIT: 15C doesn't have an FX loop so i guess DSL 40C with a vintage 30 or something similar?

Fender Prosonic (2x10 but rips)
Fender Supersonic
Peavey 6505
Peavey Classic 30 (w/ a speaker change)
Marshall JCM800 1x12
Mesa Stilletto Ace
Mesa Electrodyne
Egnater Modular 1x12 (if you can find one)
Egnater Renegade
Zinky Blue Velvet

I played one of those new DSLs and it was ummmm, not good. At least I thought so. How about a 5150 III 50 watt with a 1x12 cab?? I'm playing mine now through an old Sovtek 1x12 ported cab and it's a killer little rig. I do not miss my 4x12 at all.

How about a used budda super drive. 18, 30, 45, and 80 watt versions. Excellent loop 2 channel, preamp section designed by Dave Friedman.
Great sounding amps. Start around $800 used. Regularly pop up on TGP classifieds.
I think there is one of each 18, 30 and 45 watt combos right now.

I didnt think of this.. I'm gunna check the DSL's for myself in guitar center sometime this week to see what i think.

I didn't consider the EVH50 head but that's not a bad idea because I played thru one before and I really liked it.. I'll check out 1x12 cab prices. Maybe an avatar cab or something? Do the EVH50 heads play nice with vintage 30s?

whys the EVH 1x12 cab only have 30W speaker in it? are they expecting you to use 2 1x12 cabinets?
