Suhr Aldrich vs Bareknuckle Rebel Yell

Hi guys!

Want some suggestions on what you guys think of the bareknuckle rebel yell pickups..

I'm familiar with the suhr aldrich set and are a very nice pickup..but I'm kinda curious as to what the rebel yell's are like!

Anyone have any experiance with both sets? Will be installed into my LPR-58!!

Amps used will be bogner xtc101b and Marshall jvm 205h!!

Any thoughts/suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

i've had both bridges, but only the Aldrich neck.


i'd say stick with the Aldrich. the Rebel Yell is an allright pup, kind of similar in tone to a JB, just not nearly hot enough for me. so to me the Rebel Yell is a less hot, but cleaner JB.

i actually called tim at bareknuckle and after a decent chat he recommended me the nailbomb set!!

not a pickup i would have gone for on description alone..but after hearing a few clips he sent me with different amps its a very nice sounding set...

choices,choices??...

Based on the description, I'd say the Nailbomb is the BKP version of an Aldrich (with obvious differences, of course, but the NB is probably closest).

BK pickups rock though, so I'm sure you'll be happy I love my Holy Diver and VHII set!

I liked the Diver over the Nailbomb
the Nailbomb is a very aggressive pup, a bit brighter and definitely tighter and less middy than the Diver
sounds louder than the Diver too
I have the impression that the Suhr is more middy than the Nailbomb, but didn't try the Suhr

hunter has some clips with rebel yell through his XTC 100B


I actually think the Diver would be a better match for those amps, unless you're going full metal
for some reason, Tim usually doesn't recommend them for les pauls, but it was my favorite, along with the cold sweat
I hated it in a Gibson Sg, though

The Aldrich has more of an upper mid bump than the BKP's you mentioned. Very forward and great drive. The BKP's I think are a touch more clear and clean up a little better when you roll the volume back on the guitar. All great pickups, so you can't really go wrong.

I have the Aldrich and had a JB in previously. For myself only I didn't like the Aldrich it sounded like it had no life. I preferred the JB. Now placing Rebel Yells in.

FWIW I've had both the Rebell Yell and the Nailbomb in my Les Pauls (different guitars though) and i prefer the Rebell Yell by far!
Like It's been said, It's a bit similar to the JB.
Never tried the Aldrich but i LOVE the sound coming out of my Custom With the Rebell Yell.
I can post a clip made with that guitar if you think it would be helpfull.

Have tried both, Vastly preferred the rebel yell.
That being said though:
Dark Guitar : Rebel yell
Bright Guitar : Suhr Aldrich

I have both Ceramic and Alnico Nailbombs in my PRS's and Les Paul. Both sound absolutely killer through my XTC 20th Anniversary.

Go with the NB. You won't be disappointed.

Shit, didn't realize this was an ancient tread
But Keano, I did not like the Nailbomb (alnico version) in my -79 Custom, made it sound a bit midscooped.
Since then i did put in a 498T and it was a much better choice for that guitar.
I think you should be happy with the Rebell Yell, sounds to me like that's what you are after.
