Saw these and thought It would be cool to see what you all think.

I know a lot of us would love a Super Strat like a Suhr or a Tom anderson, but for the prices that these are, I gotta say aside from the pups they look pretty damn good.

Carvin really needs to revamp it's whole operation...from image to distribution. At least they still hold on to their return policy.

They look great, though ive never played one. Its a shame the resale KILLS them. They need a big name (mainstream) endorsee or something to fix that.

They are nice guitars for the $$$. I have one, and had a Suhr. It was a downgrade, but not a huge one. YMMV

Carvin makes stellar guitars. I so regret selling my DC127c. Top notch stuff really.

Ive played my buddies carvin DC and it was amazing, sounded great and felt amazing......
they do have some names as endorsees, just probally not super mainstream

Carvin makes good products all around. I wish I didn't hate their strat headstock though.

thank god for the return policy, I bought an in stock model, more expensive C bolt on model, string through mahog.body w/maple top and maple neck. I thought for sure the mahog would warm it up and the maple would give it great snap. It was still one of the, if not the brightest, guitars I've ever played. It felt kinda "toyish" or "plastic like" - like others have described in other posts, not very solid. I really wanted to like it but couldn't justify keeping it and screwing w/ the pups and then trying to return it.
I'd still like to try the single cuts though and would give the company another shot for sure.
The guit did play ok, but I lowered the really high action it came with and couldn't get it as low as my ESP or PRS, and it would fret out w/ bends easily.
Try b4 you buy.

Check out these guys....http://www.atlas-customguitars.com/

i've played a couple of the models and they are outstanding...excellently priced too..

there is a main dealer here in the uk...and josh sage at rebel amps also stocks these too...

you can order stock products or even custom order...turnaround on a custom order is 2/3 months..

Being close to the factory, I've played guitars that feel very similar and others that felt/played awesome. When you get to pick off the rack, so to speak, you can choose a "winner." However, on a custom build, you are somewhat rolling the dice feel and tonewise. The same can be said for any custom builder, although most smaller luthiers handpick their woods whereas I'm guessing the Carvin builders don't have quite the same supply of quality tonewoods at their disposal. Like you say, though, at least there is a liberal return policy....even on custom builds. On this, I can't say the same for a majority of smaller builders. It would definitely suck to spend $3k+ and wait 6 months to a year for something that doesn't agree with you and you can't return at which point, you'll most likely have to sell for a loss...especially in this market.

I never knew QUALITY was a word that should be in the same sentence with Carvin. :gethim:

I've seen and pointed out to them fuckups with their semi-hollow guitars, smeared paint inside an f-hole on a semi-hollow that everyone could see. My friend sent his
legacy amp back to them twice, twice it fried on him. He finally took it to an amp tech and the amp tech told him they use complete garbage for parts and paper thin boards. I could care less if it was just my luck and 3 isolated cases (all I need is one bad experience to make my decision), they're garbage. You get what you pay for man, it's always been and will ALWAYS be.

No one likes to spend $3000+ on custom guitars but I don't do anything half-assed either or sell my self short. I knew when I bought my customs that I was getting top notch quality and the tone speaks for itself. I hated to spend that much but it was damn well worth it after receiving them. The attention to detail was exellent and the electronics, top notch. One sustains like a fucking siren, the Carvins I've played all sound like the paper thin Ibanez's...no soul, flat, DULL and W-E-A-K! I will say one thing, they have good necks and that's it.

...but they are pretty to look at if that's important.

I have tried several of their bolt-on guitars, and did not like any of them. I have a TL60, and like it much better that any PRS is have tried. Plays great, low action etc...but the pickups had to go. I have not tried their California Single, but that will be next.

most of the Carvin models are gonna be more comparible to PRS, because of the 25" scale!

Anderson and Suhr both not only make kickass guitars! they also both make kickass pickups!

Fender is still in the game also, might have to swap pickups or something but they've still got some great guitars! i never found a nicer sounding guitar than my friends Strat, that fucking thing sings!

i'm pretty goofy about guitar shapes and don't really get along Strats, so a Musicman Axis is my next dream guitar!

edit; don't forget about the new Charvel line!

That's not far at all. Cool to know, may well have to check them out at some point.

Out of the high-end strat style guitars though, I'm yet to play anything that surpasses the Vigier guitars.
