Damn, I just love these bare bones Suhr Satin Pro guitars! I've been rockin' my natural wood Modern Satin for a while now, but now I'm gassin for another in black. That is all!

I've got a line on a new one for a great price, that'll be good for the entire weekend. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on it. It might replace one of my Moderns that I've considered selling recently. In a lot of ways, I've really been more into the Satin models than even my customs just because of the resonating rawness of them in contrast to the more hi-fi, refined tones of my other Moderns. They sound so sweet for hard rock and even some metal applications.

I'm thinking about one... I need a new guitar and I don't know what to get. The thing holding me back from the modern is the 24 frets.... I want 22. Otherwise it specs out exactly like I want, and I cannot bring myself to pay more than $2000 for a solid body electric guitar. So a custom is out of the question. I really like the black satin HSH.....

These look awesome, but I'm stocked on Mahogany / Mahogany guitars... wish they'd do a version on Alder / Maple or Swamp Ash / Maple.

Also the black just screams for an ebony board.

But, do you have African Mahogany body/neck guitars? This mahogany is different from your Honduran Mahogany or otherwise. It's so light, and less dense than the latter. I know others have advocated for the ebony option for these black ones as well. For me personally though, I prefer rosewood. I just wish they all came with extremely dark rosewood. Unfortunately, they include variations from dark to very light as you can see from some pics/vids.

Yes I do have both Honduran and African mahogany guitars. Nice pitch though

How is african mahogany different than honduran etc..? What type of tone difference? sustain difference? etc...

It's just different. I'm probably not the best person to ask, but it sounds quite different in contrast to my mahogany body/neck PRS or my Honduran body Modern with Curly Koa top. Admittedly, it's probably more due to the very then satin finish applied to it rather than the normal gloss finish. The Natural Satin Modern I already have just sounds so open and raw in comparison, almost airy-like instead of dense.

That dude needs to loosen his guitar strap about a foot

Very nice looking guitar!
I had an idea for a custom along those same lines....rosewood board (but dyed black), black hardware, reverse headstock, no inlay dots...stacked double coil in the neck position, maybe a fixed bridge....

i owned the suhr modern satin. Super airy and resonant like mahogany and swamp ash had a baby. I ended up hating having a floyd rose. I also prefer the feel of an oil neck vs the urethane mahogany neck. Great guitars for the money though!

Just had the first gig with my new modern satin last night...ended up using it most of the night since its so versatile (and wanted to stay in tune better than my dgt). Mines HSH with the Gotoh.

I've owned several pro and custom suhrs and this satin is one of my favorites. As others have said, airy and resonate, but fuller sounding than some of the standards I've had. My only complaint is I wish it was 10-14 radius, but that's just what I'm used to.

I really like the African mahogany...I feel like it's tone is perfectly in between my mahogany prs and basswood/maple standard.

Sick guitars for the money.

Watched that first vid. And........it'd be nice if he bent a note or did some phrasing. Man, I have a hard time listening to 'modern' guitar players.
