Pete Thorn is the perfect endorsee for Suhr, more so than Guthrie was(IMHO). Pete covers so many styles and tones and has a way of pulling out classic tones in a modern way of playing! Love the phrasing and chords....and doesn't it seem like Pete is getting better/more technical with scales and shredding! Plus, he just seems so cool to talk to and hang out with!
Funny story, at least to me. At the LA Amp Show a couple/few years ago I believe in the Friedman room, Pete's in there just tearing it up. I had no idea who Pete was at the time. So he finishes up and the room clears except for Pete and so I compliment him on his playing and asked him if he had any music out there. He basically said he mostly played in other people's bands or something to that effect and I said man, you ought to be doing this for a living...
Pete: "I do."
Me: Cool, do you have any albums out?
Pete: no, I mostly play in other people's bands.
Me: Cool... best luck to you, you smoke man.
Pete was extremely humble and didn't even mention he was playing with Etheridge or Cornell. I don't know if Pete remembers that brief discussion but I cracked up when I looked him up online a day or so later and found out who he was playing with. Um, yeah, just playing other people's music. Hahahaha...
