Does anyone have personal experience with this pup? The Suhr discription says that it's like a JB but smoother.... just wondering what that means. I'm looking for a pup for my inbound ESP M103. I know that Guthrie Govan uses this pup, but is it going to be head and sholders over the actual JB to justify the price difference?

Thanks guys!
Joel

I use both.

They're pretty damn different to my ears.

JB = bright, defined, crunchy, yet retains fullness. great pup. great harmonics

DSH+ = fat, thick mids, sounds great, through any amp with any level of gain. also has great harmonics.

I'd say they're both about equally hot. The DSH+ just has a much "larger" midrange, and a little bit more bass.

Sweet, thanks for the response. Sounds like the DSH+ is exactly what I'm looking for.

What about a Aldrich? I have one in my Suhr and I love that pup. I think its higher output than the DSH+ though.

the aldrich is prolly one of the best pickups for high gain out there.. soooo clear!!

WRONG

it IS the best high gain pickup in existence,

It sounds more defined and more harmonically active than the DSH+ to my ears, yet it's just as full.

warm as hell, but completely alive.

just perfect.

Its a killer pickup! I hear it actually sounds its best in a Les Paul, as that was what Doug and John Suhr deliberately designed it for. Il be putting one in my 78 LP Custom soon, so il report back with a review when its in :)

I have it in a basswood frankenstein RG560 body. It's routed to hell and stained in the Jem BSB colour.

It has a 22 fret neck and an edge.

It's my new #1. I've never heard a solid body guitar sound better.
