It's pretty damned cool.
I started out with an Xotic EP Booster which I really liked.
Then I got a Blackstar HT-Boost. Once I got an EH-12AX7 in there
I liked it quite a bit too. But for me the tube just smoothed things
out a bit too much. So I sold them both for the Suhr.
So far I think I made the right choice. The mid boost is great
for solos! The clean boost drives my amp very nicely as well.
It seems to drop my mids just a touch when it's bypassed.
The guitar direct sounds just a bit better.
I'll try to get some recording done with it soon.
I made a session with demo riffs using the other pedals.
It will be interesting to see how it stacks up.

My original Koko never leaves my board. Not really sure I need the extra bells and whistles of the Reloaded and I sure as hell don't need the extra gain it has!

I do prefer the Reloaded Shiba though and keep that on my board all the time as well. Both are great pedals.

More gain!
I know, I have my levels at 9 O'Clock!
I guess that feature is for guys who play Twins
but want it to sound like a Recto?
It would be great to have both versions of the pedal
to compare.

I've decided that I want to try the Empress ParaEQ Boost.
The Koko is on Ebay for $169 if anyone needs one.
The Suhr may ultimately be the winner.
If so, I'll just buy it again.
I just don't have the coin to keep them all while
I make my decision.

I tried the Koko Reloaded, and found it had too much gain, even with the gain all the way off.

The original Koko Boost has plenty of gain!! No need for the reloaded!!! Awesome boost!!

I never understood why they "reloaded" an already perfect boost. Are they still producing the version 1 as well? It probably would have been enough to jam the same circuit in a smaller pedal if foot print was the issue. Some have also said that the reloaded is thicker sounding. Anyone compare them in that sense?

People apparently were asking for a smaller footprint
and they feel they improved the midrange frequency
selections. It replaces the original.
Mine is sold by the way.
The Empress ParaEQ should be here Thursday.
I also finally received my Suhr Thornbuckers today.
I can't wait to get them installed. That poor guitar
has been hanging there for over a month with no guts!

I've been playing the Empress ParaEQ for a few hours now.
I think I might stick with this one for a while.
It's by far the most transparent of all the pedals I've tried so far.
The EQ really let's you sculpt your tone and it's a good boost too.
It feels and sounds very natural. The Suhr is a bit brash and imparts
it's own character on my amp tone. It also doesn't feel as good as this one.
That's not to say that it isn't cool. If I were ONLY playing high gain stuff
the Suhr certainly does that well.
This Empress has a different mode you can put it in to,
but I'm a bit confused about how it's supposed to work.
I guess it switches between buffer and true bypass as well
as giving you the ability to boost without the EQ active.
I followed the instructions but it didn't seem to work properly.
Anybody have experience with this?

I'm letting the Empress ParaEQ with boost go too.
It's on Ebay for $199 shipped.
I'm giving up on boosts for a bit while I pick up
a Suhr Reactive Load for my recording rig.
