All three seem to be what I want. Tight with good treble and high mids. Which one for my Alder Strat? The EVO was too thin/screamy, and the X2N was too ice picky.

HN3 does not have a lot of high mids that I noticed when I had it in my G&L. If you want high mids in the Anderson line, the H2+, H3+, HN3+ are your ticket. The + = more of a mid focus. The HN3 is a very balanced pickup with a smooth top end and a beefy low-mid thing going on.

Can't comment on the others, but you really should check out Bareknuckle Pickups. They made me toss all my Andersons... which is saying a lot, because I really loved those pickups! The Holydiver might be what you're looking for; it excels in alder-bodied guitars. Kind of like an old 80s JB, but better :D

Thanks for the reply. I would love to try a BK Painkiller, but can't find a online U.S. store that has any. They all have the Strat pups, nailbomb, or Miracleman.

I wouldn't worry about ordering from the UK. Both my orders didn't take more than 7 days to arrive in my mailbox. And the prices will probably be cheaper than a US dealer, not to mention you won't be restricted to what they have in stock. Tim is a class act, and I have no issues at all giving him my money (he even lowers the price in GBP when you order from the US, which I suspect is due to the crappy exchange rate). Makes me feel better leaving out the middleman :)

If you send Tim an email he will point you in the right direction, not to mention all of the info available on the BKP forums. Most of the forumites will agree that if this is your first order, you should trust Tim  He even sent me a replacement VHII when I got it and the white lead was grounding out, no questions asked.

Sent him an Email. He said the Painkiller had the most high mids, and I would probably like the Miracle man also. I might just get one and try it out. Thanks man.

Glad to hear! Let us know how you like it!

Maybe Tim will give me a referral discount... :D

Everybodys been telling me all about the different models, but the Miracle Man seems to be what I want. Too bad I can't try them all.

I'm gonna disagree with you on this one. I have both the HN3 and the HN3+. The HN3 is very focused in the upper mids. The HN3+ is focused in the low mids. No question about it. Both are super hot (the HN3+ super mega hot) hi-fi, tight, and articulate.

What kind of guitar did you put it in? In my all-mahogany maple-top G&L, it was the chunkiest low-mid pickup I've ever used. I have a BKP VHII in that guitar now, which has gobs of upper mids and high-end, and it's almost a polar opposite from the HN3. Can't speak for the HN3+ since I haven't played one, but from what I've read and gathered from some TA pickup dealers in the area, that + is supposed to be more focused mids.

Are the Anderson pups good for Metal, or too on the smooth side? I was told the Aldrich was too smooth for aggresive metal.

I dunno' man. From my experiences, I'd probably recommend the Suhr. I've got a DSH in my vintage Ibanez, and it screams! Just the right amount of harmonics and pure tone. The D-Activator is a great high gain pickup as well, much richer compared to the active EMG's it was trying to ape, although I found it worked best in a mahogany, or other thicker tonewood, bodied guitar, so I don't know how they would work in an alder bodied one. I haven't tried the Anderson, but I think Viv' Campbell used one for a while, he's got a good screamin' tone.

I'd like to reiterate that you should try a BKP Holy Diver in that guitar. FANTASTIC mids.
