Suhr Vs Vigier?

Heh? Hardly the case. Even the Modern can have a neck that isn't thin. As for the BFR, WAY thin neck. Narrow too.

if you hate thin necks you are going to hate playing any suhr. The necks are way too thin. I have a Suhr S6 and it has the thinner neck profile. I hate it. Im used to really chunky necks. The guitar itself is magnificent, but i cant stand playing it because of the neck. As for Vigier, ask Bob Savage, i know he has one.

Keep in mind Suhr has like 13 different neck carves, to say theyre too thin in not very accurate statement.

So im very serious about finding MY guitar now that ive found my amp for life for some time now.

I think i may have narrowed it down to either a Vigier or a Suhr.
Some questions i have are about A) The Tone and
B) The Neck

I know a lot of you guys have experience with both guitars which is why i value your opinions highly!

Which guitar typically has a wider/bigger neck? I cant stand thin necks. It doesnt have to be super fat. I like my ibanez necks, but then again i also like the roundness of my strats too. Combining the 2 would be great. Long story short, i have long skinny fingers and i need something suited for that so i dont get tendonitis.

Also, while i love the feel of my ibanez and the 24 frets/floyd rose/trem i HATE how thin my Ibanez's sound through my amp compared to the strat. I like that WARM punchy tone with sustain..(..who doesnt..) I only played 1 suhr a long time ago and remember it sounding not too much different from my Prestige's. Everything i hear online though sounds really good. Same with Vigier, but ive never played them before.

I'm sure they're great guitars, and call em superficial, but that is the most godawful ugly headstock ever put on a guitar, IMO.

I think Tylers have a 1 5/8'' nut. I figure he'd want at least a 1 11/16'' nut.

If you are measuring your description of "thin neck" by describing the distance across the fretboard at a particular fret, I usually think of that as nut width. The necks on my various guitars range from 1 5/8" to 1 3/4" nut width and honestly there is not that much of a difference between the extremes to me, although others feel a huge difference.

Bingo! This is what i consider thin.

I like wide necks! this is what i want.. Dont care too much then about the distance from the back of the neck to the front of the fretboard. I just need more spread for my fingers. And thank you all for your replys! Thanks also A. Wood for the reference Im gonna contact them hopefully sometime soon.
Feel free to elaborate on good choices of guitars / woods / brands etc.
I was recommended Mahogany or Basswood for a floyd rose...

you got your heart set on a floyd? the gotoh 510 sounds better to me IMO

The Vigier Floyd is as stable as they come. The 510 doesn't stay in tune with use but does sound nice.

I feel like the older Schaller floyd roses or the newer Gotoh floyd roses are hte best around. I am thoroughly happy with every Gotoh floyd I have used. I feel like either way you go, vigier, suhr, zion, whatever... it is a very high-caliber of craftsmanship and I am sure they will provide you with ANY feel you want. When you get into that caliber, it is very customer-satisfaction oriented, otherwise they wouldn't sell a single guitar based on their prices.

The Petrucci 6 string BFR is NOT thin/narrow (distance across fretboard). It has a 1-11/16" width at the nut, the same as the RG Prestige width. However, it does have a very small distance from the back of the neck to the top of the fretboard. Once again, very similar to the Ibanez RG necks.

<--- I have a pretty big mitt, the Suhr Modern is anything but thin feeling or sounding....as far as tone goes, its flat out amazing.

I'm all about it! I come to THIS forum and of course GAS sneaks up on me again. All this talk about diezels has me really wanting to try one.
