Anyone know the what the deal is with these reissues from Fender a while back?

I see a single hole by me for $2k but have no idea how accurate the circuit is compared to the originals.

It's probably best to just find an original and bite the bullet. The new ones are PCB and I doubt the transformers are the same. One of the greatest pedal platform amps ever.

I remember looking into them a couple years ago, if I recall correctly the fender reissues from years back were a different circuit, two channels also.

There are a few different reissues around that are likely a lot cheaper than finding an original, what with the doom metal hype premium price they go for. Ceriatone do one, if I recall correctly it’s the original, not the second version with the baxandall eq.

What ever happened to Sunn amps coming back? I remember some marketing around it but they made the weird decision to not include the model T in the amp lineup. Last I heard they delayed amp releases and were instead looking for more investors or something.

Doesn't Fender still own them?

Some random third party licensed the Sunn brand and circuits.

They're only putting out copies of the solid state amps. Think I saw a quote from them about how the Model T is "too expensive" which should tell you all you need to know about this cash grab.

The used original solid state amps go cheaper than what they want for these new ones. Like imagine Mesa pricing the IIC+ reissue higher than the used market.

I had access to both for awhile in my old rehearsal space. The original model T vs the later Fender reissue is like apples to oranges. The Fender had way more preamp gain and a master volume iirc. The early model T's are KT-88 powered NMV deafening behemoths that do the Sunn O))) or Goatsnake thing only when cranked to said deafening volumes, though they're truly something to behold. Fwiw I did enjoy the reissue Model T and actually used it on an album to run alongside my '74 JMP.

Can you share that album ? Liked to hear that tone .

Sure, it's not the best mix by any stretch, and was recorded on tape, but you should get an idea. I tracked through both the JMP and the Model T at the same time for both takes.

I’d rather hear a mix like this than modern metal mixes at this point . This sounds gorgeous to my ears
