it 's cool that the upgrade will shift towards the mark IIC+ but i would also like to see a refinement towards the dumble thing...
it's no secret that the two biggest tones of interest on the web at any time are van halen's magic marshall brown sound and anything dumble, with SRV and hendrix clean/blues coming in a distant third
put the COD in scott lerner's possesion for a while and let him tinker. that guy is a great player and really tuned in to the dumble circuit and tone and how it should sound and feel.
and he's more freelance..not tied down to any particular manufacturer. good thing.
i don't think that there's anything "wrong" with how the COD sounds as is,
but it's more a perception thing...lotsa guys thinking California OverDrive means mark IIc+ mesa tones, which goes up to metallica/dream theater grind,
when all along i took COD to mean more dumble tones, ala fuchs/two rock/brown note/glaswerks/bruno/snider/bludo...
my ears still tell me the final frontier for bruce lies in that stinging open sky type two rock/dumble sound and chimey touch; that pure clear thing that feels like there's nothing between your strings and the speaker
and the brighter side of the marshall presence like the new vht sig x, cameron ccm, and peacemaker chirp.
The specific purpose of the proposed "Super COD" is for the guys who want Mesa Mark IIC+ / IV since the current COD gets the job done quite well for the blues Dumble guys.
