Wow, they all sound pretty similar despite different bass/gain levels. I really can't tell which is which.

Yup... The main difference I find when using modelers vs my favorite Marshalls is-- the Marshalls make the hair on my arms stand up and inspire-- while the modelers don't, even though some of the recorded tones can be quite similar. ymmv

all usable. I think I like 1 the best, but its very close on some of them

I like #1 the best but I think#2 is the real marshall... Perhaps

hmm....I think I like 3 & 1 the best and 4 the least

Well I think this may be a trap but going with 4 being the JMP.

Trap being it was the only one that really cleaned up even with a heavy right hand and the low end at the very end soundd the most like a JMP low end.

I've seen this before the preferences between forums always are different. like on Huge Rack 1 is the least fave...
To me with the exception of the gain level being lower on the 4th clip I could use them all...I guess the difference between analog and digital in the gain stage isn't that much of a biggie becuase I dig clean amps with OD boxes just the same, and that's conceptually the same as running a modeller into a tube power ampI reckon. Or a loaded down tube amp into a power amp for that matter.

No trap...I think what you're hearing is that the 4th has less gain hence is cleaning up better. To me the all clean up about as much as I expect it at how hard they were driven.

For added entertainemnt..

1 could be the MP, too loose sounding for my tastes. I like that just ready to explode thing but 1 imo is over the edge.

My new 77 JMP even with the mv dimed will clean up damn nice, not quite as clean as 4 but close. Maybe with singles it would be as clean.

I remember asking you on a other forum what your thoughts on this are .... this is much better.

I can not really pick one out as being really above the rest. It is too close.

Here's the deal for me...the 4th clip is too clean with the guitar rolled down, the other 3 sound how I would expect them, but as I said there was a bit ore gain on tap with them.

I could work with any of them...

I like modelers and tubes, so for me, it never matters what is what. I'm not a "one or the other" kind of guy.

I've never tried 11 rack or Amplitube 3, so I'm curious :D

Which proves that the cab is the biggest part of the tone. Just like that high-gain shootout a while ago. They all sounded basically the same to me. Sure, some subtle differences, but the cab is the main tone-shaping.
