Super Lead vs. Modellers...some mo...

The 11R has a good Plexi model. Not so keen on the rest but that one is good. It actually sounds very similar to the Axe-Fx Plexi 2 model. The 11R is a good product at an aggressive price point.

I actually like their AC30 and Plexi quite a bit, also the clean Soldano the rest I don't use.

Thought clip 1 and 3 sounded darn close, think its silly that some would love one and hate the other. all usable like I said. cool experiment.

I got #3 and #4 right. #4 was easy since the gain was too low and that's the biggest problem with soft modelers since there's really no way to trim the input accurately.
Getting that happening wouldn't be an issue, it's the available gain in the model. Heck when they IK modelled our BiValve I had the same issue...

Wow, I thought the JMP was #2. I guess years of playing non-masters has put it in my subconscious. 1 and 3 both sounded great. There was something about the way it responded at the very end of the clip on the chord rakes/strum that my gut said that's it. Real close though.

I was going to say it was 2 but just because I thought the recording came out different then the other 3. But really I thought #1 sounded the most like what I would think the Marshall would sound like. I think if they were recorded with the master on 10 I would have had better luck.

They were recorded with the master at 10....

Ed,

You wouldn't want to send me that Super Lead for some testing would ya? ;)

Since some one on HRI got it right...
Clip 1: Eleven Rack
Clip 2: Marshall
Clip 3: Axe-FX
Clip 4: Amplitube 3

Hehe, I actually liked 2 & 3 the best, but they're all so close sounding it's hard to tell.

I'm listening on one headphone... the other ear broke so I ordered some new ones, but I picked out 2 as the real marshall before I saw the results, could I do it again on a consistent basis, probably with some ear training, but honestly they are all very close in sound minus the lack of gain on the 4th one. I liked the 11 rack the least, because it sounded the most fake to me, something about the quality of the note attacks, the Axe sounded very transparent where the 11 colored the sound to some degree, it's like they are using the same algorithms but the 11 has shittier components or something... I can't say here nor there on the amplitube it's hard to compare with the lacking of gain, but all things considered it did sound very nice for a modeler, no question.

Oh and I forgot to add, they were all usable no question there, I'd pick 2,3,4 in that order for which I'd use when recording, I would avoid the 11 if possible I simply don't enjoy some characteristic of it's tone, but it's by far and away very usable for near any application.
