Surprised that pros don't have pedal switching systems

Most pros use little to.no effects. A little delay. Reveb at the board. Maybe a wah.

It's those players in wacky Christian bands that have huge boards. Tone is usually processed and bland as well.

Didn't realize I was in a Christian band. Odd, this whole time I thought I was an Athiest.

That's such an odd generalization to make.

A little buffer goes a long way (pun intended). Having a big board doesn't matter as much when you work a buffer into the equasion. Putting things in loops and true bypass switching is just one solution to a problem. A buffer is the other. I use a big pedalboard and I don't have any loops or switchers. I just tap dance, and use a buffer.

Oh my goodness, I just realized who you are. My condolences for you loss earlier this month. Is your band still going to continue on?

VERY VERY odd generalization to me too . . Almost every concert I go to the guitarists have big pedal boards, OR pedals on the floor. . I've used about 6 pedals at my gigs for years , but I'm not a pro , only a weekend barband guy. BUT I'm one of those guys who's seen most of my idols in concert and love hard-rock , alt-rock ,metal , modern rock ,etc music from the 70's thru the current , and every show I go to , someone uses a a bunch of pedals. . I see LOTS of switching systems live also . I see the Ground Control a lot, as well as TC Electronic controllers.. I've seen the AXE-FX now at a few shows... Regardless, it sounds like we all see different concerts (Or just read about them) but the shows I go to ,I'm seeing BIGGER pedalboards than I used to 20 years ago!!! Eric

Perhaps, we novices spend a little TOO much time reading up on gear, and worrying over the small details.
We can do what we want with our own money but...I so agree with this. There's a sickness going around on gear forums.

Well put. I wonder if the forums are really created by people in the guitar industry -- you know, as a way to get us networking to one another about all the new toys created by such an industry.

Yeah. We're still picking up the pieces. A few friends have offered to fill in, but we haven't played since the show. Maybe within a month or two, we're going to try and put things together again and work towards making the album we were working on.

Funny thing is we were always bickering over the details of how to arrange the album. I think Todd might have more say now than when we were butting heads before.

Funny how life is. Best wishes to you and all of Todd's family and friends.

Hmmm. Did I say all players with big boards are in Christian bands? Nope.

My boards keep getting smaller and smaller. I like the post that says the more you play, the less you care. I'd only add, in a band.

Don't put Christian players in a box man...we aren't all like that! But I totally see where you're coming from, and I do agree things tend to get a bit muddy when you use 8 delay pedals

But seriously, I have a very simple rig that sounds great and I play in a Christian band...so take it easy!
