Surreal Atomica 100? What's the story

At some point here I want to replace my Blackstar with something handbuilt that I know will last me as long as I want it to (at least I think I do). I was looking at the Surreal Amps website as I have seen Jerry Dryer post a lot on TPG and he always seems like a knowledgeable, standup kind of guy. Anyway there is a blip about this amp designed with him and Mr. Cameron and it sounds like it would do what my Blackstar does on a handbuilt level. Anyone have the skinny on these?

I played his Atomica at the L. A. amp show. I dug it. Tons of gain but still had a nice open sound.

That's exactly what I like in an amp so I was hoping to hear that.

The Atomica started off as the Hybrid that mark helped me with. It has a clean channel like a Vox, the crunch channel follows one of the killer sounding Jose schems and the lead adds a tube to that so you get a high gain, a madium gain, with or without the jose diode clip trick (not really diodes though) and an awesome clean channel (controls on back for clean)

The story with the Atomica: absolutely phenomenal!!!

I've got number one :D

Clean to the lead channel, just fantastic. The gain channels are just so articulate, smooth, big, and mean at the same time. The voicing, dynamics, and general feel of it is just great. There is a lot of ability to shape your own sounds too. Push pull on the gain channels, separate toggles for adjusting the overall voicing and resonance, "slope," mid, and treble cut (for the lead channel), to go along with the usual bass, mid, treble, gain, etc. As a lot of people know, I've owned MANY amps (including Friedman and Cameron-which I also love) but I must say, this one has got to be one of the best. I am hesitant to say it because I realize I am still in a honeymoon phase with it but, it has got to be in the top 3, maybe even number 1!!! I mean, with all the amps I've owned-I've been through A LOT of honeymoon phases so at this point the honeymoon phase doesn't affect me too much.

I was going to post a NAD soon but figured since someone asked, I'd give my opinion. Jerry has put together one hell of an amp here! What blows me away the most is that I love it for its clean, its mid gain/crunch, and its high gain/lead. For me, I usually like an amp for one, MAYBE two sounds. And usually the clean channel is one of them.

Jerry, I am going to wait till I have some funds available to even ask. As a guy in sales myself I don't want you to waste your precious time on me just yet. As far as the sales guy thing goes if my wife's business takes off and I don't need to make what I do now I will email you about that as well

Believe it or not, the clean channel side sold me on this one. the super marshall stuff seems a tasty bonus. Can't wait to get it! Hearing hoff's glowing review (albeit honeymoon) makes me all the more antsy. :-)

Wow...for the Hoff to say it's good it probably is...he's had nearly every amp there is.
I've wondered why the Surreal's haven't caught on here....maybe their time has arrived.
The amp show clips with Darren sounded pretty good to me!
Think Jerry's onto something here.

+1 on everything the Hoff said. I bought the CM-50 he had at the show myself!
My "dream plexi Marshall" specs, as pre-cogged by Jerry,....
Huge clean, check
Dirt, scream channels, check.
JTM/800 switch, check
Pull boost, pull bright channel, check
Resonance, slope, check...
Two tone stacks, three volumes...... get outa my head! Haha.....

Like Hoff said too. Stand up guy, beautiful build.

Just got the Mic. Clippies soon.

That's what I love about my Surreal, it just does so much and does it so well
