Switchblade and CAE amp selector

I posted this on HRI but thought i would throw it on here as well,

Was wondering if anyone had this combo. I'm having a real difficult time tracking down a headtrip so im thinking of going with the cae amp selector for switching different heads into the same cab.

I'd be interested to know how the signal is routed between these two devices and maybe what the trade offs would be if anyones done something like this in their rig.

So my attempt of trying to wrap my head around this would be this..

Right now, in my rig the switchblade is the brains or core,my guitar amps etc.. all terminate into it.

If i add the amp selector, im assuming i still would connect my guitar how it is currently to the input section on the SB and the active or passive input from the amp selector would go into the output section of the SB.

Then im guessing by looking at the guide from the amp selector that the volume/line out send returns i could add as effect loops to the SB like im doing with my current setup amp effect loops.

Since i dont have experience with the amp selector not sure if/how this would work

Thanks

i have a switchblade

i also have an older custom audio amp switcher that does not have midi.

the newer reissues do.

i have to use a axess crx4 to switch mine.

Hey thanks for the reply man,

how do you have it connected to your switchblade..im having a little trouble visualizing it.

if you got the new cae amp switcher with midi it would go like this.

guitar into sb

sb out into cae amp switcher (the one with midi input)

midi out from the sb would also go straight into the cae

cae hooks up to all your amps and cabs and sends guitar signal to all the amp inputs.

select amp by programming patches into the sb.

route signals and effects as usual as per the sb. dont forget to save some cc's for the smart inserts!

Oh its on! now i'll have to upgrade my All Access to a RS10+exp module!!!

Thanks for your help man :D

how many heads you plan on hooking up?

because if you are only hooking up two heads to one cabinet an affordable option is the weber vst products head switcher.

that will allow you to hook up two heads into one cabinet. then you can use the switchblade latching output to control which ever amp you want. that only costs 150 usd.

of course if you wanna hook up four heads, then cae is the way to go.

the ultimate midi pedal is the liquid foot pro imo.

but for me an all access works great.

another thing i do is use a midi splitter on the midi output of the sb, because i use it to control multiple devices without midi glitches.

I agree that the Liquid foot has some advanced features that the RS10 doesn't, but the expanded RS10 works great for me.

It'll probably get up to four

right now i have

vox ac30
marshall jtm-45
fender bassman

i also have a
fish preamp(running through the power section of the jtm-45)

using midi solutions thru
2 grx4.. 1 for pre fx 1 for post effects pedals

planning on picking up a vht 2150 or 2/50/2 and axe-fx

definately running out of real estate!

I checked out the liquid foot but wasn't sure how expandable it is, i saw where you could control other liquid foots and the whole cat-e thing seems cool but looks like he's still developing everything or not everything you need is available yet? Like where do you connect the other end of the rj-45 cable ;)

Thanks... Glad you found it useful. Believe it or not, Bob wiring the rig wasn't a ton of bucks. Adding the custom stuff he built, to him wiring, and procuring me some of the hardware for the rig-- ya... not pocket change. I see some CAE stuff on Ebay, for less-- from time to time.

Hunting for deals on gear is my favorite sport.
