I own one... once I replaced the nut and put a lil' '59 in the bridge, it became a damn good backup guitar. However, if the true tele vibe is what you want, you'd probably do better to actually get a tele, as some of the fret work, the setup, the tuners, etc. are pretty shoddy on the SX out of the box. Not to mention the god-awful pickups.
The one I had was ok and pretty good considering the price. The finish was great all around, hardware was ok, even the stock pickups were pretty good. I liked the tinted neck too and it had some interesting flame going on as well The frets are friggin HUGE...the only issue I had was it went out of tune pretty easily, even after a good setup.
