Synergy BE v. HBE

I've got the Synergy BE module--sounds great. The two channels are basically the same but having the options of varying the gain and volume. I was reading on the Synergy website that the two channels of the HBE module are apparently different (ch 2, more gain): "Channel two carries a similar voice to channel one, while frothing with even more harmonically rich gain on tap"

So, is the HBE module a different animal (same species) than the BE or is like a BE on channel one and HBE on channel two (like the actual BE amp with the HBE boost)?
