Ok, this topic hits home for me. I love the tone of my 2007 Blackburst JP6 BFR. I played it the majority of time for about 2 years. I like the D-sonic in the older version versus the newer crunchlab. The tone is just amazing. Great sustain and very full sounding. I always said it sounded like my Les Paul but in a shredder disguise. The body and bridge are extremely comfortable. You get great control of palm muting sustain/or lack of with the bridge. However, as people stated previously, the neck is just too damn thin! It's too different from other guitars. If I picked up another guitar during the time that the JP6 was my #1, I would feel like I never played before. I sounded horrible on my LP. The neck is thinner than my '91 RG770, which I never thought was possible. That brings me to your question about the sound comparison to the Ibbys. My BFR sounds way thicker than any of my Ibbys. I have a 2001 J. Custom with the same wood combination as the JP6 (w/ a Steve's Special in the bridge) and the JP is still fuller sounding.
I'll always keep the BFR, just because I love the tone and it's a beautiful guitar.
