I am aware this thread is a bit old, but I just bought a load of these standard-pin ECC83s and they're by far the best pre-amp of new production I have ever tried.
Don't be mistaken: Thickwood is absolutely correct that these are not screened standard Sino stock. Sinos are known for their "lively mids" and it's absolutely none of that in this valve. Actually these are so smooth and even you just wouldn't believe it. And although they are rolled off in the highs they're still pretty forward and shimmers like there's no tomorrow with some drive fed into them. On Tubemaze.info they're described as "flute sounding" and that would be a fair description.
Neither the long-plate Gold Lion is not a rebranded something else. I'm aware there are some evil rumours flying around the Internet about New Sensor screening their products into brand this or brand that, which is unfounded. The plates may look identical, same with the bottles and maybe even the spacers too. But the coatings are quite different, as are a few visual bits and pieces and some that aren't so visual.
Now some valve guru may claim they measure identically. If that's the case, so be it. But if measurements and sound were one we would hear things numerically.
