Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a G Major for some of my "secondary effects" (the stuff that I can live without but would prefer not to...). On the floor, I've got a distortion, chorus, and wah... I'm gonna add a phase to that very soon. I'm looking at the G Major to run my delay's, flange's, etc... The stuff I could do without but really adds to the show.

I bought my Marshall from a buddy of mine who ran his G Major for delays/reverb only... He didn't just sell me on the amp, he sold me on the G Major unit unintentionally. I run my stompboxes in the front, and I'm going to run the G Major in the loop... I basically just need a floorboard to put next to my pedalboard that I can have bypassed, then just hit a switch to hit Delay Number One, etc... I'm not going to get too much into the deep editing stuff. Mainly it's just saving floor space by running it this way... Just curious what my fellow G Major users out there are using for a MIDI board to switch patches with... I'm looking at a Rocktron MidiMate... Any thoughts on that vs an All Access or the like?

Gratz with the G-Major... its a great unit!

Rocktron isnt bad..
I will advise you to go for FCB1010 footswitch, get a UnO eprom for it, then if you realy want to expand the limits.. get the Gordius LG Module for the FCB ;)

I use the MidiMate and have had good success with it. Like you I only change patches, I don't do specific effect on/off with it.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't bought it yet, but in the next week or so I'm gonna pull the trigger on it. I'm leaning away from Behringer (superstition...), I know a lot of guys like to use that board with it, but I'm looking for something basic. Just something to switch patches and bypass with... Not so much create uber soundscapes up the wazoo with.

Sweet! How many sounds do you typically use with it?

Been using my POD xtlive for a floorboard controller for my Gmajor for quite some time, mostly just pach changes and some control of parameters with the expression pedal and the multitude of knobs on the floorboard. Also doubles up as a B-rig in emergencies so i like it!

My bud that got me into the G Major ran his that way... But he ran some sort of switcher in his rack with it to make that work... That's not a bad way of running it either since you basically have a built-in backup!

Likly he needed an external relay switcher as the built in relay switches wouldnt do the trick on his amp. I used to have to run a stereo Y lead to switch my old DSL100 using the Gmajor.

I think you're probably right on that one... Soo we've got one vote for the Behringer board, one on the MidiMate, and one on the Line 6 XT Live.... anybody else??

I actually have 4 banks of 10 programs. I have a TriAxis along with the G-major, so everything is controlled at the same time. Each bank is setup for different guitar types and typically laid out like:

0 - mute
1 - straight clean w/verb
2 - clean w/ chorus
3 - clean w/ some other effect
4 - gritty clean
5 - medium gain
6 - heavy gain
7 - heavy gain volume boost
8 - solo chorus
9 - solo delay
