I just picked one of these up and I'm having some issues setting it up - is there anybody here who knows their way around one and is prepared to answer some (probably dumbass) questions?

Thanks! First off, I'm using it in the loop of my 50w 5150, so it's connected into line in, and I have the parameters setup to bypass the drive function.

To get myself started I set up a patch with just the noise gate and nothing else going on. Then I stored that into 2 more patches so I had 3 patches of nothing, just the gate (1-1, 1-2, 1-3). Now I've added delay to the third patch (1-3) and I've got the delay setup as I want it, BUT the output level is notably louder.

EDIT: I used the 'level' control on the compressor to reduce the output of the patch to get it back in line with the others. But I'm confused - is it even possible to just set up a patch with (for example) a delay and a chorus and nothing else?

It seems like the level control is global, so how do I control the volume level of an individual patch?

The input and output levels are global. The only thing that will make the output louder with the delay on is setting the MIX control past 50%.
Setting the Chorus level won't have the same affect.
Just to check that the FX loop of the amp is operating properly, you can use a jumper cable and see if there is a boost in output.

Thanks, I'll see if I can find the mix settings. Or is that just part of the delay config like time, decay etc?

Yes you can create a patch with just delay and chorus. You don't have to have the compressor if you don't need it.

It's on the 2nd page of the Delay parameters.

Also, you may want to check that you have the most current version of Firmware.
I bought mine used and had to update it.
These units have had some issues that TC has fixed over time.

Cool, thanks!

I just thought I could create a patch, press the delay effects edit / select button, tweak the delay type and settings and then save it. But I seem to have compression, reverb etc all on as well. And I can't figure out how to turn them off without just accepting they're all in the chain and setting their levels to zero.

And when you're editing a patch, how do you get out of it? I just hit the levels button to 'abort' my edits but that seems a bit clunky.

Finally, how do you get new firmware into it? There's no USB connection..

Thanks!

I've just found that the manual is a series of disconnected instructions rather than being a good user-guide 'how to'. There's no mention in it about updates for example.
