Tech 21 power engine?

I've been looking for a cheap way to amplify my axe-fx at home and for some jams here and there and came across the tech 21 stuff. Anyone have any experience using a modeller with these? Loud enough for a band?

it's what i use along with a powered EV monitor
loud enough for me. i face it towards me on a kickback stand (i use an enhancer)
i'm about to upgrade the speaker (which is a generic celestion 70/80 speaker which to me sounds like a G75T but muddier) with a scumback H75 100 watter as suggested by jim. i'll let you know how that goes

I use the Power Engine 60 (which is 80 watts) for corporate and casino stuff where I play direct.
Works fine...but like Pat says, I've always thought of upgrading the speaker, the stock speaker is very vanilla sounding.

I didn't like the one that I had but that could have been, as mentioned above, the speakers fault. I am not sure about the open back either. I wanted something to take my modeler and make it louder without adding any color. The PE60 that I had could not do that.

the tone of the PE stock is nothing to write home about, but the eq qualities i don't like in it....midrange mud, boomy, transistory highs...i've heard in the past, can be corrected heavily with the right speaker.

kinda like having cheap/poor tubes in an otherwise decent amp.

update:

the scumback is already paying dividends...much more transparent and friendly on the ears than the stock speaker, even though it's not fully broken in yet. not as boomy, nor as congested in the mids. and highs are sweeter. it's blending better with my dry cab. before it was a very pronounced boxiness and now that's basically gone.

I have mine for sale at Dan's Guitars for 200$, nothing wrong with it just didnt need it anymore after I sold my Trademark 60. I would have upgraded the speaker if I kept that rig.
