Technical punk bands ?

The topic title can be considered an oxymoron is most cases, but there's a few older punk/crossover bands with considerable chops. Any others come to mind ? Suicidal Tendencies would be another I suppose. NOFX is borderline Here's a few

I dont really consider Suicidal Tendences punk. How technical are we talking? I was a huge Dead Kennedys fan and some of their stuff was more than just bar chords. D.R.I. maybe?

Not being technical is everything punk was invented for.
It came back as grunge 25 years later.

I was going to say D.R.I. too. Suicidal Tendencies is a band that started out as punk and then moved into metal. If you listen to "I Saw Your Mommy and Your Mommy's Dead" and "Institutionalized", etc. definitely punk. Then you listen to the later stuff like "Trip at the Brain", etc. and Rocky George is just shredding. I love both but definitely two different styles.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a good example of two versions. Their later stuff is so radio-friendly and when you hear their earlier albums they are so badass and some of the best funk grooves.

The Offspring could get there sometimes. The rhythm guitar playing on some tracks went far beyond standard punk and bordered thrash metal.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers masqueraded as a punk band from time to time, but their old stuff was definitely somewhere between funk, hard rock, and early hip hop. Man, were they a great band through Californication. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is a desert island album for me; there really isn't a dud on that disc.

Hell yeah!!! That was a great song! My favorite song on that album is "Hearing Voices".

Lots of good suggestions here, but Propaghandi is the one band that I never had the chops to keep up with. Each of their albums has at least one song that leaves me scratching my head.
