Steve is a friend of mine. Great dealer to work with!!!

Sounds brilliant tbh, much better than the demo that the guy did at Namm.

Meh.... not hearing anything in that vid that's making me want to dump my original Stealth and run right out and buy this.

5150's now are like marketing toothpaste and razor blades. Let's change something slightly for marketing appeal
and sell a new re-invented one, although it really is not.

That is . . . . wow so true hahaha

With that much absurd preamp gain, your power tube of choice isn't going to matter all that much.

Quality of gain > quantity of gain

Sounds a whole lot like the other 5150s, which is cool, but something more vintagey would have been a better choice for EVH

I know tons of people love these amps and that's cool, but it sounds like I'd personally dislike this amp as much as I did the standard EVH 100 watt and 50 watt I owned. Maybe I'd have a different opinion sitting in front of it, but seems like it has the same attributes as the 50w and 100w that I didn't care for, only more annoying. That being the upper mids "kerang" thing going on. On the two I owned, the Blue Ch was mediocre at best but admittedly pretty decent boosted less the mids I couldn't stand. I felt the red channel was overly compressed, the mids seemed very congested, and in general the Ch was over gained. The red Ch just sounded horrible to my ears on both amps no matter how I dialed it.

Did you try it with an EQ in loop? Does wonders for it, im running an MXR 10 band and holy crap does it crush.

To me it is an awesome amp. Been playing it with my band for the 3-4 years and it never disapoints. Every channel is great. Love the blue 80s type hair metal.

Maybe it's how it was recorded, but based on this clip I much prefer the gain channels on the 6L6 Stealth. This one sounds cloudy and congested in the mids and low mids.

You betchya. I run an eq (MXR 10 band) in the loop for every high gain amp I own and have owned. Even my 2 Engls (Savage 120 and Fireball 100) sound like the old blanket over the speakers syndrome: boxy, 2-Dimensional, and thin without an eq in the loop. I'd go as far as saying that if I had to play either Engl, which I absolutely love, without the eq I'd of sent them packing; same goes for every other high gainer I've played/owned. That's how much the eq in the loop changes things for me.

Like I said the blue Ch clean boosted up front was crushing for sure, but I just don't like the mids in that amp line. The red Ch for me was a no go no matter what.

The sheer number of people raving about these amps when I researched buying one led me to purchase the 100w, and it just didn't do it for me. So then I tried the 50w as many said it was a tad different and that just didn't give me what I was after either. Not saying they're bad amps just a bad amp for me.

Yewh, im the same, i need my EQ. Brings every nuance and ads crispness that is lacking.

But for me the EVH 100w is a damn fine metal tone generating machine.

Glad you dig it!
I wouldn't mind picking up a 6505 or 6505+ sometime in the future and giving one of those a run.
