Tell me about AmpliTube iRig for iPhone!

I don't work for Ik, nor do I have an opinion on this product being this or that on the market for this situation...

BECAUSE A GUITAR WAS NOT MEANT TO PLAY THROUGH A FKIN IPOD/TABLET

I mean honestly people, this is a cool little gimmick that's good every once and a while, I got my yamaha silent guitar at school everyday now packed up tight with a cable the irig deali and my bose, no noticeable extra weight, a lot more fun sittin around in the park by myself. Depending on the gimmick, I don't know how often I'd spend the 40, after playing for a week now I don't see any need to spend another 20 on w/e pack. I play at home for real enjoyment, I can now practice more electric style things with the few effects I have in the amplitube free app and the fender free app. Yes there is noise, yes it's plugged into a phone the size of a wallet, yes, the irig is a little piece of plastic sure to get stepped on or the likes before or not soon after the company's own "wear & tear breakage" sets in... Still havin a few more kicks than I normally would, can't afford an axe deuce and line 6 is just a little there nor here me.

I'm just playin around...what I'd really like to know from IK is when they are going to allow other interfaces like the Jam and IO dock use their app? Ampkit works with others...it would probably add to that 300,000 download number.

I agree that the iRig sucks. The Peavey one is better. The Apogee is more expensie but superior, and it has its own gain control.

The free version can be used to test the AmpliTube apps (including the desktop which brings me to the next point...). We've also got more than a decade of high-end modeling technology on the competition there. Peavey didn't code any of that one, so there's no Revalver experience brought to that table. On our side, there is code directly derived from AmpliTube 3 that we've been able to use. So there's always that, when we're talking quality sound. Fact is that we do certainly have quite a bit more experience modeling guitar gear, and it does feel great to be celebrating our 15th anniversary. We'll keep coding iOS audio apps, and leave the medical manuals and flash cards to the competition.

Who cares how much high-end modeling technology and experience you have or that Peavey didn't code Ampkit. The bottom line is that the Ampkit amps sound much better than Amplitube and the iRig interface through the headphone thing sucks compared to Apogee Jam...

So, do you still use a reel to reel tape deck for recording still? Saying "guitar wasn't meant to be played through an iPod/iPad" is, with all due respect, a retarded statement. There is no rule set with what a guitar can and cannot do. I play MIDI guitar with a Roland setup; was a guitar never meant to sound like a violin or piano? Or is that okay?

There are hundreds of people here who disagree...

If you guys spent less time slagging each other on web forums and Twitter, maybe your product would work better. Between the actual amp modeling on Amplitube for iOS and AmpKit, I'd say they've both got their pluses and minuses. I own both.

As for the interfaces, it's a proven fact that the iRig (and the AmpKit device) are inferior to the Apogee JAM, and since you guys don't seem to care about getting it to work with your software, I no longer use it. AmpKit+ works great with the Jam!
